Here is the fourth of five shows that Queen did in Tokyo in April 1979. Setlist follows :

Disc 1:
1. We will rock you (slow, fast)
2. Let me entertain you
3. Somebody to love
4. Death on two legs
5. Killer Queen
6. Bicycle Race
7. I'm in love with me car
8. Get down make love
9. You're my best friend
10. Now I'm here
11. Teo torriate
12. Don't stop me now
13. Dreamers Ball

Disc 2:
1. Love of my life
2. '39
3. It's late
4. Brighton Rock
5. Keep yourself Alive
6. Bohemian Rhapsody
7. Tie your mother down
8. Sheer heart attack
9. We will rock you
10. We are the champions
11. God save the Queen

Unfortunately I don't have the lineage, and I don't have any artwork either (perhaps someone could make some?). Quality is very good.

File size : 615 MB

NOTE: I received this as FLAC and shared it here initially as such, but upon closer examination it seems that some of the files are lossy-sourced. I apologise for not checking this thoroughly first. If you share this with anyone please be good enough to warn them of this.

Good download and enjoy!

I already have exactly the same copy and I suspect it being mp3-sourced.

Look at the spectrum of Bicycle Race:

I checked it myself as well, and it seems to drop off at 18khz. It's hard to say...

Any other opinions?

I looked at it with Tau, EAC and Traders Little Helper, and results are not exactly conclusive. Indeed, with Tau while it says that this is CDDA (is lossless), if you look at the spectrum analysis graph there is a dropoff. For other tracks, particularly on Side 2 (look at Borhap, for instance) the case for lossy is much more pronounced. Conclusion - I am no longer convinced that this is totally lossless and am going to adapt the first post (and title) in consequence.

Apologies to all for the for any annoyance and hopefully one day we will all get a truly lossless version of this gig!

...I think the show was recorded on an audiocassette (it's basicly how it sounds), therefore it only recorded the spectrum between 30HZ and 16KHz...
Probably this recording transfered a couple of times to other cassettes before running through a (simple) A/D converter and became digital.

This wisdom comes because I worked for a audiocassette factory at the mastering department, 15 years ago...I picked up a few things.

My verdict: It's lossless in the way that it hasn't been altered by mp3 compression...
But it's lossy in the way that much was lost from the original mastertape...and lossy because it could have been A/D'ed more properly...

It's waiting for a more low-gen cassette now...

BTW...note that this recording could benifit much from remastering and remixing. And it's pretty easy to make this 'look' like a real lossless thing (just fool around with the EQ in the high end...)

from Now I'm Here (different spectrum analyser)

Thanks for this very informative post, Loser in the End! It helps explain the conflicting findings of EAC etc. But should I add it to the FLAC list (eventually with a caveat) or leave it out until a better version comes along?

I vote for adding to the FLAC list...the drop at the NIH sample is the extreme... other spectrum readings made me pretty confident that it was never altered by mp3 compresion...

A lower gen copy would sure mean an upgrade but you never know if these things turn up...

Thanks for the reseed, Ginger!
Toay I listened to the recording and I must say, the sound quality is almost as bad as Freddie's voice on that occasion. But still it's great to listen to because of the great atmosphere among the crazy Japanese kids. And fascinationg how Freddie manages the complete set with that almost non-existent voice.
