Nice move Gym Bitch, thanks a lot for sharing this in Flac.
Very nice move indeed. I thank you for eveybody who download this and is too shy for thanking you ;o).
In my own case, I can't use torrents, so I just hope someone (you or someone who finished to download the gig) will be kind enough to make this gig available in mediafire or rapidshare too (I'm being a little demanding maybe, so sorry !);
anyway, thanks to have shared this gig as promised, desite all the problems. Nice for the queenzoners.

PS : I see that nobody thanks you for the mp3 files in the other topic. I don't know what we really have to think about it, I don't know if you can see statistics when you launch a torrent, knowing how many people download the files and so on, to see what is the difference between mp3 and Flac. I don't know if we can say that mp3 users are less polite than Flac user, maybe that's not the case, so I won't say this. But I wonder why nobody thanks you for mp3 if there are so many mp3 users.
Maybe everyone took the habit of downloading Flac and transform in mp3 themselves. If that is, then it can be considered as a great move towards preservation of the music.
Absolutely no irony here, just that I found this strange to have no commentaries on the mp3 share. I'm not trying to start again the fire mp3/flac, don't misunderstand me ! Maybe the comments will come later.
Anyway, thanks a lot for this share, thanks for the torrents, and hope someone could upload anew in rapidshare or mediafire in the end, to allow finally all the Queenzoners to download this gig and benefit from your nice sharing move !

Regards,
Olivier.

It's lossless, so no need to check.

Thanks for sharing it, Mike. If you stop seeding the mp3 version, you'll start to gain some respect from people here. Otherwise, it'll just seem like your presence here is meant purely to create problems with the majority of the sharing community.

You're still technically polluting the tradepool, because any one of those mp3 downloaders may burn it to CD and trade it. Yes, anyone can convert FLAC to mp3 and burn it to CD, but chances are if someone prefers mp3, they don't think there's a difference, and thus they are more prone to burn it to CD.

Come on... don't see it as you and the mp3ers losing. See it as everyone winning. In the end, if this place bans lossy sharing, the people who prefer mp3 will have to learn how to get their music in FLAC and convert it to mp3, so they too will win, if they make the effort.

You chose kinder words than I did Bob.
For some reason this whole FLAC/MP3 issue is getting me riled.
Must be the holiday spirit trying to set in =)

Since Bob confirmed this is lossless,I applaud you Mike for this effort and thank you.

Thank you for the rapidshare links! They completed the torrent, I'm seeding it now. So the torrent from the first post should come back to life...

Since I don't want to make a new torrent, I post the info (based on queenlive.ca) here:

---

Info from queenlive.ca:

City: Hoffman Estates, IL, USA
Venue: Poplar Creek Music Theatre
Date: August 13, 1982

Recording length: 92 minutes (2 CD, incomplete)
Quality: A-
Source: Audience
Lineage: AUD > Master > 2nd Gen Cassette > WAV > CDR (x) > FLAC

This semi-outdoor show took place at an ampitheatre in Hoffman Estates, a suburb of Chicago. Before Life Is Real, Brian May says how "it feels good to play in Chicago in the countryside here. Very nice." The acoustics definitely weren't great at this venue (like the last time they played in Chicago), as Brian then asks the audience, "Everybody hear alright? Right at the back there in the grass and stuff? We'll be okay. We're having a bit of trouble hearing ourselves, as everything tends to go out. But it's gonna be alright. This is the quiet part of the set anyway, so this is gonna be easy."

After Life Is Real, Freddie invites everyone to stand up and take their clothes off, and adds, "I was only joking when I said this was like Las Vegas." This show's Fat Bottomed dedication is to "anybody who's got herpes here tonight". The band then offer a fantastic and longer than usual rendition of the song, clocking in at over 5 minutes.

Brian has an incredible night, offering some fabulous guitar work throughout the show.

It seems the band have dropped Somebody To Love, as Calling All Girls is now where Staying Power would alternate it with - but Calling All Girls is a mainstay in the setlist since it's their current single.

This is the best-sounding recording of Queen performing Life Is Real, a song they only played a few times. There is some tape hiss, and the drums are sometimes a bit buried in the mix of this otherwise great recording.

Track listing:

CD1
01 Flash (intro)
02 Rock It
03 We Will Rock You (fast)
04 Action This Day
05 Play The Game
06 Calling All Girls
07 Now I'm Here
08 Dragon Attack - Now I'm Here (reprise)
09 Vocal improvisation
10 Save Me
11 Get Down Make Love...
12 ...Get Down Make Love - Guitar Solo...
13 ...Guitar Solo
14 Body Language
15 Under Pressure

CD2
01 Life Is Real
02 Fat Bottomed Girls
03 Crazy Little Thing Called Love
04 Bohemian Rhapsody
05 Tie Your Mother Down
06 Another One Bites The Dust
07 We Will Rock You
08 We Are The Champions

Thanks for quoting all that from my website... but be careful when copying lineage down. The copy originally shared here was labelled as a second generation tape only... not a specific number of CDR generations as well.

The most realistic lineage for this share would be:

AUD > Master > 2nd Gen Cassette > WAV > CDR (x) > FLAC

I was at this show, and one thing I know for a fact is that the set list went from Under Pressure directly to Fat Bottomed Girls, not to Life is Real.

They played two nights.  Maybe you saw the second night.. ?  Or maybe this recording is actually from Aug 14th?
Posted by The Real Wizarduser not visiting Queenzone.com
on 2/26/2011 5:05:00 PM
I was at both shows - there is no doubt about the order of the songs.   Life is Real was before Under Pressure.    The first night was, IMHO, the greatest concert of all time.

The second night began with 'The Hero', then 'We Will Rock You', then 'Liar', or maybe "Liar' then 'WWRY.'

Okay - a final edit - all of this is not the first night's 1982 Poplar Creek Concert, but I don't know what portion is.  This much I can recall from that first night - after a sing along 'Under Pressure', Freddie said, "You're a very special audience, and I'm not just saying that."  He then did some 'day-ohs' with the crowd, then right into Fat Bottomed Girls.

Maybe this is a mix of the two performances.
Posted by sheerquser not visiting Queenzone.com
on 2/27/2011 11:00:00 AM
Very interesting stuff.  Thanks for the info.  From what I can tell there are no edits on the audience recording, but of course anything is possible..

Now all we need to do is get a recording of the second night so we can put this one to rest !  It'd be great to hear a US 82 version of Liar.

It's beyond me why Liar wasn't performed at all of the US shows, as the fans wanted to hear the earlier material, not just The Game and Hot Space.  But I guess it was a natural phase to go through.  On the next tour they brought out all the old material, but they didn't make it to the US.. ever again, as it would turn out.
