Don't want to sound like a bastard, but this recording is available in excellent quality, right? Compiled from two sources? (check out Bob's site www.queenlive.ca)

I mean, the fact that clicks were removed, gives me the idea that this has been converted from mp3 to FLAC. (yes, this happens)

And the "only" good/very good rating isn't a great promise either.

My experience with the Queenhub is that a lot of mp3-sourced material is listed as FLAC. Which is a shame!

Based on the track listing, this seems to be the two-source mix.

It won't edit posts for some reason...

But the Breakdown version doesn't have the radio promo, so that answers that question.

Glad to see this one shared here.

Okay, my mistake. I compared CLTCL with the sample which can be found on www.queenbootlegs.nl (Harry's website). And they sound identical, so this is indeed the excellent version.

After listening twice to this show, my comments:

Hmmm, it's not Brians best night, it seems. Lots of mistakes at crucial points, and not very creative generally. With one exception: he plays a celestially funky guitar in "Stayin Power"! This song is delivered perfectly anyway. The best version I have ever heard! Great keyboards and bass, and the guitar, as said previously, is excellent.

Freddie is a bit uninspired, sometimes he sounds a little bit tired. His voice is average, not bad, but he doesn't try out anything special. Even though the audience is very responsive and enthusiastic, he doesn't address them very often.

John and Roger are solid on a high level, they keep the show going. Fred Mandel's keyboard playing is excellent, he has more feeling than Morgan Fisher in my opinion, at least he plays more "funky".

There's a funny moment at the start of "Rock It", when Brian starts in the wrong key, but he solves the situation professionally.

My favourite songs: Staying Power, Body Language (yes, true!), Play The Game, Rock It. Somehow the old classics are all a bit, let's say ... mediocre. Queen seem to really focus on the new stuff.

Sound quality fluctuates, not only when changing sources, but even within a song. I would rate it as VG + on average, the range is from VG to EX-. The transitions from one source to the other aren't perfect, but the overall sound is enjoyable.

Thanks again to the uploader!

I agree with you on Body Language. Live it was quite a good song actually. Hot Space live was just brilliant.

Imagine Queen+PR playing Action This Day live. A duet between Paul & Roger. But that would never happen...

Wow, that's how comments should look like ! Great analysis, good point !
That should be added in the info.txt file, really instructive, even if everybody has his own opinion.
And it's also nice to point out that if the Hot Space album was somewhat disappointing, when plyaed live it produced a totally different effect, more rock than funky. A little reassuring for the fans ! Strange period anyway that could have been the end of the road for most bands, and for Queen too. But they came back with more things in their bags after that ! Different story anyway.

Olivier,

This recording is for the Hot Space lovers a must as they played six songs from the album. All great versions and in a very nice quality too. Also the first live performance of Calling All Girls.

The Hot Space tour is really incredible. I recently listened to many shows from 1982 and while the studioband was not at its peak(Hot Space really sounds dated now), Queen the live band certainly was. All shows have something unique to offer and even after months of touring they could deliver truly awesome shows. Good examples are New York 28/7/82 and Oakland 7/9/82. Another favourite of mine is the 24/10 show. It is a rare show in that sense that they were very relax and so they performed a wonderful Spread your wings intro(freddie:-), another one bites the dust segues into jailhouse rock, nice improv, also saturday night... Compared to the very energetic European performances like Leeds, Milton Keynes, Vienna,... this show is a much more laid back affaire:-) And that's nice too!

I'm really happy there are so many great Hot Space recordings.
If there were only some more ADATR, NOTW era recordings...
