Thank you very much for this share!
It´s hard to accept that it´s impossible to hear the whole concert when you know how it went on after the tape was full.

Amazing... 9 out of 10 people don't say thanks for a previously uncirculated (or at best, barely circulated) recording. I wonder if these fine folks ever wonder why this kind of share doesn't happen too often...?

Well, they could have continued recording on the tape they already had.. :)

Please allow me to explain the reason why I've uploaded this concert. I met a guy recently who everybody called Freddie (about 50)and found out he is a Queen fan. He told me he saw Queen once in Barcelona in 1979 but doesn't remember the exact date, as you know there 3 shows. He claims to have the ticket as a souvenir and ... a tape (Roadstar, he says)! He said he would look and try to find the souvenirs. Well, he is a very simple guy and a little bit "lost" and though I believe him and enjoyed very much the passionate way he talked about the show, I guess hardly we will see anything.

By uploading this gig, guess I was trying to fool myself too.

Well, this is the sharing forum, right?

Cheers

I think you kind of misunderstood me, if this is in reply to what I said...

But I wish you the best of luck in getting what's hopefully a tape with new Barcelona material on it.

Not at all!

It's just a funny "review" of the reason I've uploaded the show. Just wanted to share it.

Dear Sir GH,

it´s amazing to read you last posts here. Actually I wasn´t up to date to realize that this is a rare and special share.
I had the Mp3-Version for many years (from Henry V., I think) and for me the share of Mr Baker (thanks again) was and still is a nice upgrade
in my collection.

W.

Are you sure it's of this date and not the following night?

Dear Sir GH,

Perhaps I should listen to it agian, but I remember the fading out when the introduction of the band members starts. The following night is a recording over 2 discs, so in that point I´m sure, because my Mp3 version which seems to be from the first night is also spread on one disc. Henry (the trader in those days)titled it "Let The Songs Begin" or so.

This recording has been surfaced very recently and some fake recordings claiming being from the 19th or the 21st have circulated for ages. But they all were from the 20th. So I guess yours was definitely from the 20th.

Little foetus, I got another show from Barcelona in 1979 (don't know where I got it from) which is not this one.

Comments on the txt files:

"(fromQueenbootlegs.nl)

Nice recording of the second night in Barcelona 1979 during the Jazz Jour. There are many fake bootlegs out there which are claiming to be from the 19th or 21th date in February. This is for sure not the first night as Brian talks about ''Doing better than last night''. The recording is slightly incomplete. Brighton Rock and Sheer Heart Attack are both cut from the beginning. If You Can't Beat Them has a cut in the middle as it misses about 20 seconds. Almost the whole concert has Very Good sound quality till Sheer Heart Attack as then the quality changes to Very Good-/Good+. Those last few songs are genuine as Freddie says ''Adios Barcelona!'' during God Save The Queen. The performance of Death On Two Legs appears also on the official album ''Live Killers''. This time without cuts or bleeps ;-)."

And some other differences...

I can upload it to QZ tracker tonight if you like so everyone can tell if it's the same show or not.

Dear RoyThomasBaker,

I think little foetus answered my post.
I listened to my Mp3 one disc recording and it´s the same like this share in Flac. The greeting before "Let Me Entertain you" is the same and so is "Somebody To Love". I also checked the 2nd night recording and there are a lot of differences in the lenght of the titles and the speeches and noises between them. In the last post of Roy we can find the evidence, that both recordings are genius.

regards
W.

On the 60 min recording, before the start of Let Me Entertain You (probably the first night) Freddie says ''Buenas noches Barcelona!''.
On the second night he says ''Buenas noches!''.
They are definitely different.
