Hi Folks,

**As always, I have restored/remastered this FOR MY OWN USE. I hope the community sees it
as enough of an upgrade to want it, but if you don't like it, please don't download it.**

Firstly, this recording has been crushed by compression (see 'BEFORE' picture), and it's
impossible to undo. However, by correcting the equalisation I have minimised the effect
and significantly increased the peak-to-average ratio (dynamic range) - see 'AFTER'
picture.

Secondly, each track has been individually normalised by Tarantura, resulting in, for
example, Love Of My Life being the same volume as Sheer Heart Attack.  This normalisation
also causes the raising of background noise (i.e. tape hiss and crowd noise) on quieter
tracks, so I have manually matched the transitions between tracks so the volume no longer
jumps when a new song starts.

As for the sound, the bulk of the equalisation was done with Har-Bal. I then applied high-
and low-pass filters (essentially sophisticated bass and treble controls) with a Waves
VEQ4 equaliser and brought it back up to level (-0.2dB) with a Waves L3 limiter in
Wavelab. I have re-tracked the songs so there now less tracks, corrected the balance
between left and right channels and applied new fades to disc beginnings and ends. NO new
compression was applied.  And...no denoisers!

Please note that if you are directly comparing this version with the original, it will
sound quieter.  If anyone wants more info on the remastering, please contact me and I'd be
delighted to bore you with it.

Lastly, I'm aware that this is far from perfect.  It is, however, about as good as it's going to get until Tarantura decide to share their unprocessed masters.

Here's a little taster, hopefully raising a smile in the process.  Original first, then the restoration.

What a nice thing to say, thanks Pittrek.  Please don't forget I'm always interested to know your thoughts.  I'm working on the other 4 recent Tarantura releases now, so knowing what you think is always helpful.

Another snippet to help hear the difference.  Volumes are matched between the two sources, even though it doesn't really sound like it.  Original first, then remaster. Switches between sources are at 7 seconds, 11 seconds, 15 seconds, 20 seconds, 31 seconds, 35 seconds and 39 seconds.

Let me know if this stuff is helpful or not - I'm just trying to give the best idea of how the new version sounds compared to the original.

Haha... a damn good bore it was.

Thanks Stark for doing your wondrous work once again.  The sound is infinitely more natural and well-balanced now.

Looking forward to the other Taranturas if this is how they're going to sound !

OK I'm listening to it right now and it sounds great, thanks a lot.

But a small tip for the future - please don't call your files "1" but "01" - or in other words , be sure that the track number has 2 characters. The reason for it is that many people (e.g. me) listen to it on their computer using WinAmp, and WinAmp is so dumb that it plays after track "1" track "10" . I"ve been wondering why they played Prime Jive after Jailhouse Rock :-)

Thanks fro sharing. But I'm unable to decode the flac files, is it with XLD or xACT (never had any problem before). Any idea why ?

Thanks to everyone who left comments on this - glad to know people enjoyed it.

Couple of things:

- Pittrek, track numbering duly noted.  I'll correct this in future.

- Alejandro, I'm working on getting the remaining four recent Tarantura releases up as soon as possible.  It takes time though, so bear with me.  Should be something up in the next week or so.

Another fantastic re-master, thanks a lot for your great work, it's just amazing... are there some remasters of the radio broadcast versions of the South American tour dates out there, though these are already great recordings yet?

Let me say it's a great pleasure to listen to your remastered work - wish I'd have the knowledge to do things like this. Did you finish the other Tarantula releases in the meantime? I'd be pleased to know if you already "re-released" it!
