A very interesting show. The band seems to be enjoying it but Freddie seems to be
pissed at the audience. They improvise a bit of Under Pressure during Now I'm Here
and something what sounds like Back Chat during the intro to Keep Yourself Alive.
Brian breaks a string during the last seconds of Killer Queen and it takes him a bit
till he's able to continue normally. He also forgot to play his solo during Bohemian
Rhapsody, and after he remembered he is supposed to be playing, he plays something
very, very different (but also very interesting).

There are several versions of this concert available. The most famous and probably
most spread version is from Digital Dreams (hopefully I remember the name correctly),
this version has DTS sound, but it looks and sounds pretty bad (sorry). It's too
dark to see anything, has very small bitrate and a huge amount of solarization.
The sound is far from perfect too, it sounds like it went through some hiss or
noise reduction.

Fortunately other copies have surfaced over the years. Two VHS tapes were "leaked"
by Ghostwithasmile, one of them was sent to me, I transferred it and shared it
on Queenzone a few years back. This new copy looks and sounds even better. I received
it as one lossless avi file, I cleaned up most of the video noise in NeatVideo and authored
it to DVD. The image is still not perfect, and it has MANY problems in the dark parts,
but it's the best I have seen so far. If somebody has a better copy please feel free
to share it :-)

Technical details :

Main feature :

Length : 01:32:48
Resolution : PAL 720x576
Framerate : 25fps
AVG bitrate : 8Mbps

Audio : LPCM 2.0 48kHz

DVD contains
- full concert
- soundcheck (1 min)
- TV interviews (9 min)
- animated menus

Please note - this is a DVD9, you will need a dual layer DVD if you want to burn it,
or you will need to use some program like DVDShrink to be able to shrink it for a
normal single layer DVD.

Also, if you decide to distribute this outside Queenzone, distribute the DVD "as is"
including this text file. Don't re-encode it, don't put it on youtube and monetize it,
don't use it as a basis for a commercial bootleg. And please don't re-encode it,
if somebody is interested in a "1 file" version, an mkv version will be shared on
request.

Tape owner & digital transfer : Ghostwithasmile
Cleanup & DVD authoring : pittrek

Thanks Peter. Nice to see you authored as a DVD9.
I can just burn that straight to a bluray disc!

If folks who want an mkv and have the software/patience, they could download this, make a disc image out of it with "imgburn" (free), mount the disc image with "Free ISO mount" (again free!) and then open it with "makemkv" (FREE!!) and create some mkv's :)

This still looks and sounds like crap but it's way better than what has been available until now. Thanks a ton for putting this up, I finally got to experience the whole show for the first time thanks to this. With a bit of lighting and colour correction as well as plenty of EQ in the top range it certainly is much more enjoyable. The sound is just good enough for the energy of the performance to come through.

What happened to the the video?
Deinterlaced two frames are like one frame, then two frames (one of them is distorted) from the same moment and the third frame.
I didn't notice it at the first look.

LCD (LED technically). And no, I didn't use a standalone DVD player but a computer with XBMC connected to the TV.

Perhaps that's why they look ok.

Yes, I have no other way how to watch the DVD right now.

I think the problem is this - Pittrek likely cropped and resized (problem lies in resizing) them without deinterlace -> reinterlace process. Thus the judder. So either he should have done the process mentioned or avoid any cropping + resizing.

I re-created it by using this method (below). It's basically the same thing, only that the distorted look varies depending on the amount of resizing.

(this one is untouched, only deinterlaced in VLC. This footage appears like the one I "recreated" because, as I mentioned, the amount of resizing affects the look)

I would suggest everybody (I do it myself) to do this -

* Make 25i videos to 50 fps progressive (respectively, 29.97i -> roughly 60p)

* Use H.264 compression and MKV container for the particular video

* Play them on laptop connected to TV via HDMI cable

You won't have to buy a blank DVD and you save a lot of disk space. And on your TV it will look exactly the same as your DVD player converts 25i to 50p anyway.

Now thanks for the post CM, now I finally know what kind of problem do people have. It's really interesting that software players can handle this but some standalone players seem to have a problem with it.

I apologize to all of you who had any problems, I'll post an mkv version soon

Normally I'm all against de-interlaced pictures, but in this case, the original is so weird that you can't tell if it's interlaced or not, so a corrected de-interlaced version is fine by me.

Peter. Do you have Snow Productions DVD of this concert?
If so, May I recommend you take a look and see if you can match his colours.
To my eyes, his DVD would be perfect if it weren't for the fact it's all on a single layer disc and you can clearly see the artefacting.
It's so bad that actually, I wonder if his source was mpeg2 to start with...

Do you mean the version which is usually distributed as Snow version or is there a REAL SnowProd version ? I have the version which has static Freddie pic in front of a moving flag, has DTS sound but it's extremely dark and I'd say it's VCD-sourced

Too bad you can not put the work here in your resume pittrek. Not relevant from professional point of view, but quite meaningful for what kind of person you are, in terms of hard work and dedication.

I am being genuine because unlike you pittrek seems like a legitimately good person. I have no reason to not want him to have a new job. I admit I'm not the most skilled person at talking to people I barely know but what I have seen of pittrek in his posts, I have no reason not to be nice to him. Genuinely nice.

At this point you're blatantly making things about you. All I was doing was asking a simple question and you felt the need to come in and make unnecessary aggression like you always do.

Please never reply to any of my messages or mention me ever again on this site, whether directly or indirectly. I am making this formal request and if you do not live up to it then it will be considered legitimate bullying. Unfortunately this website has no way of blocking people so I am stuck having to see you around. I will no longer come after you if you don't come after me. If you agree to this I will also change my signature again.

Posted by Bob Harley user not visiting Queenzone.com
on 7/10/2016 12:11:00 PM
That would just be another QTV transfer of some sort then.
Snow's versions are all from QTV transfers one way or another.
I'm sure QTV is also the source for all of the audio versions shared so far (some of them copies of copies, hence the introduction of crackles etc)
Some of those copies are also ''tweaked'' and prodded about a bit, or converted to more lossy formats.
A direct clean ''lossless'' recording from the QTV broadcast is about as good as it gets regarding a ''master'' copy at this point in time.

It might be of interest to some of you as regards Pittrek's 2015 DVD share and stand alone players with a TV.
If you de-mux, de-interlace and then re-create a DVD it cures the playback issue.

^ You need to try and get hold of a copy somebody recorded at the convention from a chalet that had good reception on the day.
I reckon it will still look like a bit shite though, and probably no better than Pittrek's 2015 DVD share as regards video quality.
