What is it that you dislike so much about flac files? I guess you're begging a bit too much my friend :)
Don't you know that no MP3 torrents are allowed on Queenzone? So if you want to get ahold of this show, you'll have to download the flac version :)
By the way, if you can't play flac files and that's your problem, then simply search google for "flac front end" and you'll find a nice program called flac front end who converts flac to wave and has also winamp plugins - sp you'll be able to listen to flac audio files in winamp. No need for MP3s :)

Here is a very short descrpition on how to get torrent files downloading in less than 5 minutes.

1. go to http://azureus.sourceforge.net/ and download the latest version of this very userfriendly torrent client. Install the program.

2. Just left-click on a torrent link (e.g. Queen + Paul Rodgers Brixton 28 march 2005.torrent 29 KB) and a window will open asking you with which program to open that kind of file. Brose and click on Azureus that you have intalled. Click ok. The download will start automaticall. IT'S VERY EASY AND TAKES ONLY A FEW MINUTES. !!!

Its hard to say how long it will take cause that depends on how many people are seeding (providing the files) and how many people are leeching (downloading from the seeders) and your bandwidth connection. Maybe someone with more knowledge than me will correct any mistakes I have made in this info.

There is only one seeder at this point, and if they are in super-seed mode, they may not show up in your program.

We are all currently around 43%. More seeders are not likely to appear for many more hours, so just be patient.

Ahh.. ok.. I didn't know that if in Super Seeder mode that they might not show.. I did wonder why we were getting higher in percentage while NO ONE appeared to be seeding.. I am using Azureus so I am still learning things about it.. I will correct my post right away,

just get yourself Winamp, and then download the flac plugin.. its EASY

Patience with bittorent files is a sure cert!! Have to be very tolerant as they say. This show will be a very popular download IMO.....first gig of tour and no official downloads on queen on line for purchase at £0.99!!!

I've listened to samples of these downloads. They are of a very high quality and should be for the price.

The amount of downloads on these boards is unbelievable and we are very lucky to have such generous fans who are prepared to share.

Leechers is thrown around like confetti at a wedding!! Rather a strong word don't you think? More like fans taking advantage of great opportunities and not believing their luck to me.

As I'm rather fond of saying, if you don't want it don't download it or if you have it and don't like it....delete it.

I don't want to get into a big argument or anything, I want to ask a simple question. I think it's fantastic that these concerts appears for downloading so quickly after the event, but I don't understand why they are put up as flac files. I know flac has no quality loss but surely if you encode an mp3 at 160kbps or higher the quality loss is not noticeable. If it was, nobody would use mp3's anymore and the iTunes store seems to be doing alright.

My point is all these shows are audience recordings. None are direct from the soundboard, so just how much quality is the much larger flac file giving you? I would've thought mp3 was quicker to download and just as good for what these shows are. Please tell me if I've overlooked somethingbut I know from experience how long it takes to go the bittorrent-flac route rather than download a bunch of mp3's.

It's a legitimate question that hasn't been addressed recently in this forum. I'll give you my thoughts, for what they're worth.

First of all, let's examine the mp3 format. Mp3 is known as a "lossy" format because, in order to keep the file size down, some information (samples) is deleted from the source file when it is converted to mp3. Those samples are now lost forever. The first time this happens, you might not hear a difference in sound. However, let's suppose you download a concert in mp3 format and then you burn it on an audio disc. Later on, someone wants to trade or you want to upload the show. In order to do this, you rip the disc and encode it as a set of mp3 files. When this new set of mp3s is created additional samples are deleted. You still might not hear a loss of quality at this point, but what if each person who receives that show does the same thing? After many generations, what would the show sound like as additional samples are lost in each generation? There would come a time where the show would start to sound like those crappy samples you can hear on Amazon. So, the worst thing you can do if you want to build a collection of shows to trade is to burn CDs and then rip to mp3 in order to copy them.

On the other hand, if all you want to do is have the shows, and you will never become a trader, then mp3 will probably work for you.

For people who want to collect shows with the purpose of trading them, lossless formats such as FLACed wav files are essential. Wav files are not missing samples, and that's why they're so much larger. FLAC is simply a way to compress ("zip") them to about half their original size to make it easier to download them. Thus, when you get these files, you know that you have all the available data, and you have the best possible copy. If you then use a good extraction program and extract from disc to wav in order to make copies, you should be able to make an exact duplicate of the show. This is very important over many generations of copies, because there should be no difference from one generation to the next.

I hope this helps.

That's fine, I understand all of that and I understand why people on here like flac files. What I thought people would do it what I do - download an mp3 show, burn an audio disk of the show and then keep the mp3's, as downloaded, on another disk to burn copies of. If the clicks between tracks are are problem, take them into a sound editing program and get rid. Easy as that. Even easier is if you're a Mac user like me, to go in iTunes and just set the end time of the song a second or so earlier and it will seamlessly belnd into the following track.

I have no problem with flac files except for their size. If I traded with somebody I'd be delighted if the disk they burned me was sourced from a flac, but for downloading it's a pain. I'm as impatient as the next man to hear Queen material so I don't much care for the hours on end I have to wait to download flacs. In response to Richards point about 320kbps mp3's, I did one straight from a CD to compare file sizes. It was a song which lasts 4minutes and 4 seconds. A cd quality aiff was 41.4mb, a 320kbps was 9.8mb. I'd imagine a flac would be more like the aiff.

Thanks to everybody who's helped me understand more about flacs though, cheers!

I've started using Azureus to download the torrents, and I'm hoping to download my first one using a super class high-speed connection from my work system, but my Azureus has a red face next to the donwload and says "not conneccted to any peer while downloading".

Is this to do with the fault Richard stated above, or is it due to possible Firewalls on my work system...?

Could somebody encode it to mp3 and post on rapidshare or something like that ? I got to wait weeks to download flac version :/
If you encode with best encoder - LAME with preset --alt-preset standard quality is very good - you cant hear difference from flac :P

Well congradulations.

This is the first bootleg from this tour that actually sounds good. Sure the band at times is almost drowned out by the audience but all in all the sound of the recording is vastly superior to any other recording by an audience member out there that I know of.

The band seems distant, recording of I refer too, as if you were far away from them but the show is complete and sounds quite good, as if I am there with people directly next to me. THANKS.

I'm hoping to seed some U2 from the current tour here but will need some simple but precise instructions on how to seed a torrent here. I can make flac or shn, no problem, its making all the other stuff so anyone can download it that is the task.

No, I said I doubt there'd be a significant difference for an audience recording. Nobody in the history of bootlegging ever made an audience recording that came close to soundboard which is why I was surprised people were so bothered about using huge flac files. That's all.

Wonderful concert - many thanks. Only one catch, burnt the cd, checked it played okay, and then wiped the files off the computer to save space. Then and only then did I notice that Radio Ga Ga went a bit Ga Ga at the end. I presume this is not on everybodies, only on mine. Would anyone be able to send me a copy of just that song - took the best part of three days for me to download the original, and don't think I can face that again as it slowed every other net based thing up as well.

Then don't downtalk all audience recordings as not being even close to soundboard quality.

Zeppelin fan or not, the quality of the June 21st '77 audience recording from Los Angeles will blow you away (provided that you have the best version).

You can choose to make a (comparatively) crappy mp3 from flac, but you can't choose to make an mp3 into a (better) wav, flac or whatever.

That is why flac should be used wherever possible.

If you can't get the file to decode, your best bet is probably to delete the flac file for that one song and jump back on the torrent. The file will download again.

Hey

I used the FLAC frontend to decode and
I had the delete the input file option
(always worked before)

yes...it is gone alright...

sorry to be a pain in the ass..

Just to let you know I posted this on dimeadozen.org (including a reference to this site & a thanks to Team Zissou for sharing it on here to start with) and it has been downloaded over 500 times from there and there are still some downloading it now.

That's a lot of Queen fans happy thanks to Team Zissou and Queezone - thanks to everyone involved in the recording and posting of this gig.

actually it was banned at dimeadozen - there certainly may have been 500 hits but that adds up to 500 disappointed people with partial downloads - thats why i came here to complete my download after it got pulled over there

thanks for sharing it on this site

depends on the setings you have on your client.

it was probably set up to seed for a predetermined amount of time and when it ran out it stoped.

can you re-start it for a moment so I can finish?

thanks in advance.
