Other info: On September 25, 1982, Queen were the musical guest along with host Chevy Chase for Saturday Night Live's 8th Season Premiere. Originally broadcast on NBC, the 90 minute program included two musical performances by Queen; "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" and "Under Pressure". Queen also joined the cast on stage for the final 'goodnight' segment and end credits. In 2004, NBC rebroadcast the entire program.

"Crazy Little Thing Called Love" is available on the "Saturday Night Live - 25 Years of Music" (2003) DVD set but this is a more complete representation of Queen's participation in the show.

Thanks for all the feedback so far. I'm still seeding, only 405 MB of 582 is uploaded so far, so there aren't any other seeders yet.

I'm no expert at this.. at first I had the maximum 5000 upload speed, and about 20 uploads.. but I couldn't use my browser so I gradually reduced it.

What are good settings for the originator of a file? I want to be as generous and quick as possible getting it out there, but still want to be able to browse the web :)

Chevy is the actual host of the show, though in a funny gimmick.. he hosted by monitor only from California :)

Danny Devito does introduce the band for some reason but I don't think there's any explanation as to why he's suddenly there! He's not in any of the sketches. That's a good question actually...

Just an update.. two people have over 80% now so there will be a couple more seeders very soon, unless they disconnect, at which point I'll have them killed :-P

Yeah I mentioned that in the first post. I don't see how this could qualify as official material though. It's the complete appearance of Queen, and in mono as originally broadcast, with station identification logo on the screen and consumer quality.

I'm sure the SNL DVDs are better quality, stereo (maybe even 5.1) so I encourage people to buy that if they're interested. It's a TV appearance, not aiding any charities, not part of Queen Productions. And it would be silly to leave that out.

Glad I didn't buy the Saturday Night Live DVD.

I thought paying 8 euro for only one track wich I already had (in slightly worse quality though) is a bit too much...

They may not own the video rights, but I would imagine that QP still receive some royalties from the DVD release.

Well, it's said I've downloaded the whole thing but it isn't a folder and there is no way to extract files from it. Any idea?

-edit- as far as I know, the SNL_QUEEN.zip thing downloaded as a file and stayed a file. When I tryed it again, the same thing started to happen. Would anyone be so kind as to post the .vob file of the video itself? Thanks.

It opens the Media Player and says "This file is either corrupt or the Media Player can not understand the format. That's all.

Someone did a little "cleaning" without my permission and deleted the file, I won't bother.

This comes from my self-made DVD of the Saturday Night Live episode when it was shown again last year.

So I thought this would be a neat way to present all of Queen's appearance without doing the whole show, which is something like 66 minutes without commercials. This way you get an introduction, both songs and the end credits.

'Crazy Little Thing' from this show is available on a DVD set called 'Saturday Night Live: 25 Years of Music'. It's a 5 disc set:

when the dowload bar was totally filled in but it was bright green does that mean its done?

I read in Freddie's bio (Peter Freestone, asst. wrote this) that the Friday before, his then-lover Bill Reid and he had been screaming at eachother, because they did that a lot. So Freddie woke up with a hoarse voice on Saturday. Queen didn't want to use a backing track, so Freddie just marked the performances in rehearsal. He and Peter spent the whole day in the SNL studios bathroom, steaming up the sinks with hot water and dripping oil in them, with drinks of hot lemon and tea to try and heal his voice.

I'm looking at that part in the book now, by the way. I don't memorize all that.

I don´t know if this changes anything, but since this was taken from the re-broadcasted show, people think it´s not a big deal!

It´s like sharing the Seinfeld episodes recorded from TV while there are the DVD versions. I really don´t know what´s the line here, since this is a diferent format from the music industry. I mean, they owned the rights to footage from the beggining, why the DVD´s change something is beyond my understanding, unless people start to share the DVD version.

The show was on 25 Sept 1982.  The band sang live Crazy Little Thing Called Love and Under Pressure.  The photography was very good - the camera featured the appropriate band member at the correct time, so you can see how Roger play when the focus of the music was from him etc.
