Are you referring to me?

And you call yourself a trader? Tell me, do you use MP3-sourced audio for your trades? Nice isn't it? Polluting the world with lossy recordings, which get transferred to lossy files, which get burned to cd, which get transferred to lossy files, etc. until all you have is distortion.

What`s your problem Thomas?

The one person i have problem with is fairy fellers, and i know there are others too!

If i`m a good trader trading lossless stuff....why don`t you just ask the people i`ve traded with if you have a problem with me?

Ok, I`ve changed it. Sorry, hope it`s ok now....and no, i don`t trade lossy stuff.

@Fairy Fellers:

Could you please mail me back about a trade? E-mail is in my profile. I've mailed you before about this.

I dunno what's going on in here and what happened. Can anybody lighten this up?

If you`ve traded with him and sent him your records, don`t expect him to send anything back. This guy is black listed as a trader, just ask Mr.Scully among some ( I know others too, but just know their trading names). Hope you understand the issue better now.

I wonder if Thomas realizes that he can have samples e-mailed to him, and then do a spectral anaysis to see if the item is not lossless before making a trade???

... But it is probably more fun to insult the commoners who enjoy mp3's.

I'm not quite sure about this, co's I'm not an expert, but I think this is lossy. I used Tau Analizer after burnt it and the result was MPEG sourced! Then I burnt a Jimi Hendrix Flac concert and the result after the analisis was CDDA sourced!
Can anyone confirm this? I have to say that I don't care a lot about Flac or Mp3 files, but I do know that a lot of people care about this issue! So anyone?

Do you have sreenshots of the spectrum and freq. analyze?
Tau analyzer is quite accurate, but it can be wrong sometimes also.

Can`t see any reason why this should be lossless. This is just mp3 sourched material with no power at the higher freq, and it just fills your hardrive.

It is not lossless, it is lossy (the opposite)

Like i said, i can`t see why this should be lossless = this is lossy stuff, and should be deleted. Much better uploading this in mp3 from a lossless source.

Don't take your ball & run away, learn about the meaning of lossless. It's to preserve the quality of the original recording. This means you have to inspect whatyou have first. Either through EAC, Cool Edit, Audition, etc, check a spectral view of a track. If there's a black area above 16000, it's usually MP3. Some mini disc also have a black area, but of course MD is also lossy. If not sure from there, try a frequency analysis (same programs), if there's a big dip around 16000 then it's been a MP3 at one time or another. With this one there is obvious blackness above the broadcast line & it also dips right off. My first clue was the file sizes, much too small for true lossless FLAC files.

If you'd like help with recognizing lossy material, I'd be glad to help you by email, including setting up EAC.

I've mailed you already, a couple of days ago. But you just don't answer it! Why? If I may ask...

OMG, the same discussion again. QZ is no and never will be a serious trading platform. So just live with what you get and be grateful. If someone insists on lossless and low generation files he should search other channels (and pay/trade for them).

But – wrongly labelled torrents and MP3 to FLAC conversions are a pain in the arm, so please be more careful about that. I assume, most of the uploaders don't do it by purpose, but everyone should have a closer look at the files.

Thanks for the download, Fairy Fellers!

There is no way to see if a FLAC file is mp3 sourced just from the file size. A file that went through wav>mp3>wav has exactly the same size as the original wav. The quality is significantly degraded, but the file size is the same. These files are smaller than usual, because he used a high compression ratio for them(Level 7).

I don't believe you understood me. I didn't say the WAV files were too small I said the FLAC files were too small. Yes WAV files stay the same size after WAV>MP3>WAV, but FLAC is different. It compresses the audio & what MP3 discarded, FLAC can compress that part of the 'dirty' WAV more, so the file will be smaller. The lower the bitrate of the MP3 the smaller the FLAC file will be.
