What is the connection between Freddie Mercury and Michael Jackson

Submitted by: Richard Orchard

In the late 70's through to the early to mid-80's Freddie Mercury and Michael Jackson were quite close friends.Michael Jackson would often come to Queen shows.  In particular, he suggested to the band that they release "Another One Bites the Dust" as a single.

Freddie and Michael recorded some songs together around the time of the Thriller album (1983).  The songs were State of Shock, a Michael Jackson song, and "There Must be more to life than this", a Freddie song.  There may be other songs as well, but these have not so far surfaced.

The songs were recorded in Michael Jacksons home studio.

State of Shock features both singers.  It was eventually released by the Jackson 5 with Mick Jagger.

"There must be more to life than this" is Michael Jackson on vocals, with presumably Freddie on piano.  The song eventually found its way, with Freddie singing, on his first solo album Mr Bad Guy.

Michael and Freddie seemed to loose touch as the 80's progressed.
