I'm not a fan of the album version of this song, but what do you think of the live 03/11/1982 (Chicago) rendition?

After Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy, this (particular version of the) song is the second most-played Queen track I have. According to iTunes, that is. Basically, I've listened to it a LOT!

The lyrics are beautiful as is, though this rendition is haunting. Poignant.

I wanted to ask, of those people who like this song (perhaps there aren't many?), are there any other worthwhile live versions? I have one other one, can't remember the date (where Brian introduces it with a rather lame-sounding "this is called...life is real" (random guy shouts 'yeahh!') but it doesn't compare to the abovementioned version!

I love Life is Real, I havent heard the live version of the song, so I too would appreciate it. But the studio version IMHO is one of Hot Spaces better songs, though not the best.

Sorry, I've just noticed, that above date is totally wrong...I saw it on my playlist and assumed it was for this track, but unfortunately not. It's definitely Chicago though...I'll have to check what the correct date is...

Perhaps someone could help me out. It's the one where Brian says, "I'm not really going to introduce this, except that Freddie, uh, Freddie wrote this for a very special person for the last album"

Queenconcerts.com has the last show played in Chicago as 07.12.1978. So it's not Chicago.

oh yes, I like the live ver. better than the album ver..
And I too have Chicago('82) live. I think the date is 08/13/'82, Brian introduces the song and the people yell.
Besides, I have New Jersey live (08/09/'82). Brian also says some words to the audience and introduces the song simply. It's almost the same as Chicago ver..

Je vais bien.
