... Because it's one of the only Queen songs that doesn't have a harmony during the chorus or any what so ever in the song. I just noticed that today.

No harmony?

I don´t want to sound too nasty... but do you know what harmony means?

Ah! That would explain the SCREAMING HEADLINE. Perhaps someone should alert the media.

No yet, have to wait 'till October, but then I will see them 3 times :-)))) The Shows from the US on Dime sound awesome, allthough I wished they would play more 70's stuff. But, it's Rush!!
Are you going to see them?

It was actually the first Queen single without vocal harmonies. Excellent song. Stripped down, and straight to the point.

I think Spread Your Wings is one of John Deacon's best songs.

The verses are wonderful, with a great melodic line, and very little melodic repetition. The choruses are just mind blowing, great sing-along material, stunning melody.

I even like the lyrics a lot, nice imagery, and a lovely story.

There's no vocal harmonies in the song, but obviously a song doesn't need those to qualify as a good song. The vocal performance by Freddie is very powerful and emotional.

As Sir GH said, a nice stripped down song, to the point. A great pop/rock song.

Basically blind em and deaf em in the first 10 minutes, and while they are recovering from that put in the less good songs

What an unkind thing to say. Clearly, it matters to the OP, who simply wanted to share something they felt was interesting.

It is a lovely song!

Well it's more interesting than the Queenzone headline about the glorified bootleg 2-DVD "Collector's Box" being sold on Amazon which oughta be illegal...why on Earth is THAT a headline?!?

it sure is a great song. I never considered it fit to be a single release but as a song part of NOTW it's great. So simple it seems, indeed no over constructured harmonies etc but that was the overall idea behind NOTW, back to basics, no overproduction, some kind of "first take comes closest to what we want" like they did with Sleeping on the Sidewalk.

And Spread Your Wings has lyrics a lot of people can relate to.

Yeah, nice you realised something special about this song for yourself. It reflects exactly what Queen had in mind for this album. (in my view)

Same goes for We Will Rock You. Both Brian and Freddie were going to write a track fit for the audience to join in, to make the complete audience feel as one, whether they were in a rock-audience or at a sporting event.
Only years after the release of NOTW I read (and realised) that in WWRY only Brian's guitar was used. The stomp-stomp sound was just Queen using their feet. I always thought it was Roger on drums. Sounds silly perhaps but when I realised how it was done, you could actually see a crowd stamping their feet and clapping their hands, apart from their voices actually the only way to make a sound as a crowd. True genius to use that idea in a song intended for a crowd.
