I just got home from the show (see subject). I was seated in the 16th row, towards the right of the stage.

It's my second time going, and there was definitely a certain buzz and more energy in the air from the audience. Then again, the other time I went was a Sunday matinee, so that may be a factor.

Anyway, there was some pre-show excitement with the 7 finalists from Canadian Idol arriving by limousine to the theatre with a small camera crew following them around. My seat was just a couple of metres away from the box where they sat.

Brian came out through the gates of "Wembley Stadium" for the guitar solo in Bohemian Rhapsody, and then went back through the gates to disappear. He came storming back from the side of the stage while Roger and his drum kit came through the gates as the opera part ended for that storming rock section.

After the song ended, Brian talked for a couple of minutes about being happy to be in Toronto, and also said that he spent most of the day with the Canadian Idol finalists, giving them pointers. He said that after hanging out with them, he changed his view about the whole Idol thing, because they were more like true singer-songwriters. Of course, he needed to say that, because shows like Canadian Idol is being blamed for the death of true rock in the musical, and there are specific jokes aimed at that show and some of the alumni.

Anyway, after his speech, he said he had one more surprise for us and launched into The Show Must Go On. The various cast members sang the verses while the entire cast plus the Canadian Idol singers sang the chorus. Then, after a wave at the crowd and a bow, the curtains came down, and that was that. Roger didn't say anything or attract much attention.

The end.

Thanks for writing this up for us.

We all should laugh at least 20 times a day to stay healthy and you made me laugh with this:

"He said that after hanging out with them, he changed his view about the whole Idol thing, because they were more like true singer-songwriters."

I am waiting to see who will be blamed when Brian feels himself misrepresented or gets angry emails from "Idols" fans this time...

Or - maybe he is continuing to grow as a human being and has come to see some positives in it. Oh wait, we all know that celebrities aren't allowed to evolve as people.

I was only there for the whole day yesterday, but what do I know?

I was merely being sarcastic.

I was there last night too and it was awesome. It was my fourth time, but I had the most fun because there was a definitely a different spark with the anticipation of Brian & Roger. The cast and band were exellant as per their usual and even though I knew Brian was coming out for the solo, it was still a rush seeing him. Overall, I thought he and Roger were fantastic and it was really great to see them again, even if it was just for two songs. ;)

I also managed to record about 3:30 minutes of video on my camera (the end of Bo Rhap and some of Brian's speech) before getting in shit from an usher. She ordered me to delete the videos and I pretended to do so, but I actually saved them. I'm still in Toronto until tomorrow, but when I get home, these are going on YouTube!

Oh, I know... :)

That was totally meant for anyone who'd actually mean it seriously. Sorry... should've clarified!

The man understands it.

Canadian Idol isn't the right place to be for a man as cool as Roger Taylor.

More and more I get the feeling: these days
Queen = Jim Beach + Brian May.

Lucky, lucky you.

We were hoping for something similar in Vegas years back during the performance.

Alas, it was not to be. The concert at the outdoor pool was fab, but....

Kudos to the boys and fans who had a chance to enjoy Toronto.
