???? why?

Surely the two you mention have both been seen just as many times, I think in reality most fans would rather see an earlier concert say Houston.

However the reason they are releasing this on is it has the most hits on it so will appeal to more than just the hardened fan.

Guys why keep bleeting on about this, it is what it is so just live with it

But a "Rock In Rio" - Boxset with both concerts in full lenght would be a release that would give us much more satisfaction, wouldn´t it? But surely, it would be to expensive and the concerts would stay as twins in a boxset like this.
Hey, but Montreal really rocks!

When you hear the quality of the musicianship of this concert that should answer all your doubts..eos.
Budapest was a good performance but vocally Freddie was on the money in Montreal.

Maybe. But the show had ZERO energy. "On Fire at the Bowl" was a much better show overall.

They're releasing it because it will be the best quality Queen DVD ever released. Quality-wise, nothing can possibly top this... not even Budapest.

Because it's there and it's the oldest available film with "all your favourite Queen hits!" played in good quality.

Fact that they have ignored what your average common or garden Queen fan wants (Houston or Hammy or Earls Court) is of no consequence apparently.

Great art work too.

Because QP doens't care about the fans needs. The only thing that matters is money. If you compare for example "The Who", full concerts direct from the sound board either audio or DVD.

QP is a complete disgrace !!!!

Yeah. Queen fans are waiting a decade for only some unheard demos on a likely very expensive boxset while Pete Townshend used to post much demos for free download on his site. The Who rules. Queen Productions can learn quite a bit from The 'Oo's production team and in that way Brian May can learn quite a bit from Townshend about how to keep fans satisfied with your musical legacy, IMHO.

Why?

Because it sells.

Face it.. People buy cds/dvds that say: "Under Pressure, We Will Rock You and Radio Ga Ga" and not "Ogre Battle, '39 and Sweet Lade"

Absolutely correct Fried Chicken. And I hope Brian remembers this the next time he complains about Queen not getting their props about their great body of work, because to the casual fan or the man on the street, they have 10 or so songs that they keep flogging.

Why Not, re:

Yes, but look at what Teh Who's team are doing. They are almost exclusively STILL ignoring the fact that there's a wealth of material available from the band's classic era, yet they chuck out material from every show since John Entwistle died. Surely they could extend this to archive material as well?

The Who By Numbers Deluxe has been shelved which was to feature a bonus disc taken from the Swansea show of 1976 which has been widely bootlegged.

The Amazing Journey film which was a "The Kids Are Alright Mk2" has also drifted off "In The Ether".

Pete and Roger are back focussing on "the now and the future" as opposed to "the then" that they were some 18 months ago.

Yeah, that is also true of course.. But they still did release stuff like the Young Vic concert, which didn't contain much material that the normal, casual listener would be familiar with. Also Pete's demos like the Scoop series and the Lifehouse boxset thingy, and like I said, free demos on his site, are some things QP could take notice off. And they don't re-release as much as QP do, like in the last case, Montreal.

And well yeah they aren't doing much with 'the then' for about 18 months, but QP always let a few years pass before they release something *new* or interesting.

The Who have had FAR more compilations than Queen. They've been around almost ten years longer too...so chill.

Indeed, but they also released a lot of (official) interesting stuff, not *only* Wembley and Milton Keynes and some illegal releases.

OK OK, The Who have done some stupid releases and compilations too ;). The main point was really that there are lots of demos from The Who/Pete Townshend available, and a fair amount of officialy released concerts, which QP hasn't done as much.

But anyway, this was about WHY MONTREAL!!!!!!!! ;)
