Yes John would still have been a member of Queen had Freddie lived.

Unless he'd left, in which case he wouldn't be.

Of course if he had gone to Hull University he'd never have joined in the first place....

Depends...

If Freddie was alive but they stopped touring and recording i'm sure he wouldn't take part in a reunion concert

To my understanding, as I'm sure most others might agree, there are two main reasons why John Deacon is no longer a part of Queen. The first reason is quite obvious, and that is Freddie Mercury's unfortunate death. I'm sure John felt overwhelmed by his friend's death, and thus being the conclusion of his career.

Before I announce the second reason it must be understood that even the great John Deacon is a human being. Life on the road and in the studio can be rough for someone who wishes to spend as much time as he can with his children and live out the rest of his life with his wife in peace. Being on the road with a band might not be such a great idea for someone who truly wishes to spend time with his family. That being said, even if Freddie Mercury were still alive, I think John wouldn't be with Queen in the same way he was in the first 20 years of his career, but more than he is today.

The important thing to remember is that he did stick around for some great accomplishments, some of those which without a doubt are more impressive than the Paul Rodgers collaboration; for example the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert, the Made In Heaven album, and the recording of No One But You (Only The Good Die Young).

The topic-title suggests that John is the one who died.

Or is he dead?

Fred won't let them to change bass player and still call themselves as Queen, IMHO.

I think he'd be hiring the strippers instead of Freddie.

The use of English words by some people here made me totally forget what the subject really is. Looking at the title of this topic.. what IS the subject anyway?

Because it's obvious that John isn't retired because he didn't want to work anymore. It's obvious that he has some kind of agoraphobia (fear of crowded places, and contact with other people). And because he used to be on tour all the time it never got chance to develop into a real problem. But when they stopped touring and recording it kept on growing.

Or do you think it's normal that a 40 year old man retires and never gets spotted by thousands of Queenfans in England

The subject is "Is Yoda Still Alive And If So Would He Be A Member Of Queen ?"

Answer - yes. Infact I have it on good authority that he has just finished backing vocals on the new Queen + Paul Rodgers cd.
