Hi Guys,
Freddie's Wikipedia article has been nominated as a Good Article. However, we do know the page numbers to back up the following sentence:

"According to Hutton, Mercury referred to him as his husband (Page # needed), and died wearing a wedding band that Hutton had given him (Page # needed)."

If anyone owns a copy of "Mercury and Me," please give us two page numbers that will work. Someone stole my copy, so I cannot do anything about it. Also feel any minor edits for grammar. Here is the link:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freddie_Mercury
Thanks.

Pfft, "According to Hutton"...

That book is nothing but an anti-Mary tirade of fabricated stories. He's trying to say anything he can to make it appear like Freddie loved him most, because he's bitter about Mary getting Freddie's house. As far as I'm concerned, Peter Freestone and Jim Hutton betrayed Freddie's trust by sharing his private life with the public.

Please, stop trying to pollute us with your stepford ways. I hope all this stuff about Freddie's private life is removed from the wikipedia article. If people want to read that stuff (true or not), then they should buy those books - or even read them online (there are links in the wiki article... unbelievable, someone actually transcribed them word for word!).

Stop wasting online space on stuff that 99.9999999 of Queen/Freddie fans couldn't care less about. He should be remembered for his music.

the photos on the page are dreadful and the main one needs to be replaced with an official one of portrait proportions.

I must agree that Freddie Mercury's personal life should never have been told about, especially by those who were supposedly his closest friends. I never heard Mary Austin tell the public very personal information about Freddie Mercury. So what right does Jim Hutton have? Don't get me wrong, he's probably a nice guy, but some things should never have been released to the public. One thing that I totally disagree with is the video of Freddie Mercury in the bath tub, who wants to see that? The obsessive Freddie fans maybe, but not the general public. That kind of stuff only degrades Freddie Mercury's reputation. He should be remembered as a musician and composer. He should be known for his generosity and kindness, his love for life and his motivation. I don't care if we talk about his homosexuality though. Because let's face it, he is what he is. But all these promiscuous tales should be left alone and be kept secret to those who knew the man best. God knows I wouldn't want people to know about my sexual life after my death. I wouldn't want people watching me naked in a bubble bath. What it all comes down to is that some of his closest and most "reliable" friends are taking advantage of his legacy for some cash in the pocket.

I don't know why Freddie's sexual preference must ALWAYS be a factor. It gets tiresome. He was a splendid musician, and, for me, that is all that matters.

Well said. I hate the way people get all defensive of the likes of Hutton and Freestone cos they met them once at a show/convention/Starbucks whatever. There's so much hatred thrown at Mary simply because she got the majority of his estate and has wisely chosen to stay quiet about the more intimate parts of FM's life.
As for the homosexuality issue-to be honest, I wish we could put that aside too. Sure, it's what he was, but when you discuss other legendary artists like The Beatles, Hendrix etc it's all about the *music* not the fact that they were heterosexual, right? If Freddie chose not to publicly discuss his sexuality when he was alive, then maybe we should respect his decision and follow his lead?

Here, here. It's all about the music(or should be)...And what a briliant legacy that is...
