I guess you all know the famous QTV DVDs. The people behind this "company" have released a bunch of great looking videos, like

Hammersmith Odeon, London, UK, 24. December 1975
Hyde Park, London, UK, 18. September, 1976
Pavillon De Paris, Paris, France 28. February / 1. March 1979
Velez Sarfield, Buenos Aires, Argentina, 1. March 1981

Who are the people behind this label ? What does actualy QTV stand for ?
What other QTV videos do exist ?

People who leak higher generation copies and keep the masters for themselves?

QTV is "Queen Television".
Basically, any DVD with this onscreen has been recorded at the UK Queen conventions where the chalets have TV feeding a Queen only channel.
Basically, anybody who dared to take a video recorder and find a way of tuning in the channel can record these.

Brian live in South America doco also exists as a QTV recording.

The only correct answer :-)
There was one pretty well known fan that used to supply these to the fanclub. And NO, Rick, it has nothing to do with keeping the higher generation for themselves. The only higher generations are the copys that are in the QPL archives! Unless you get your hands on those masters there won't be any much higher generations. :-)

Thanks for this info. It seems that these are often talked about as some of the best copys around and I to have been wandering who makes them and where they came from.

Excuse me? To what do you refer as being a nice try? Ask ANYONE who goes to the UK Queen conventions and they'll tell you the same as me.

There are also Houston and Sao Paulo QTV dvds.

I can confirm that Sao Paulo is shown on QTV, but so far I've never seen Houston on QTV. Houston has had an occasional showing on the big screen in the hall, but as it's quite a recent find, I'm positive it's not been shown on the TV's in the chalets.
That said, in the last couple of years, the staff at the holiday camps who show this stuff have been useless at actually showing what it says on the program of events for the weekend. They also run late in showing stuff, sometimes they forget to change the disc entirely (yep, Jackie provides them with low quality DVD copies now), the picture is blighted with interference from Channel 5 and they also mess about with the vision mixer during concerts, so if anyone is trying to record them, they don't get a "clean" picture anymore. It also appears to be common practice to stop a concert before it's even finished (I recall the first year I saw Caracas - they cut it off during WWRY)

Ducksoup - these are indeed convention recordings (including the long version of Kampuchea 79, which does not have the QTV logo fortunately) , and we can only say huge thanks to those very few persons who actually spent energy and had the courage to record the QTV channel, instead of spending the whole weekend at tha bar drinking beer... shame that only 1 out of 2000 conventioneers thought about this...)

So let's sum it up, "somebody" brings a rare concert footage, air it on a special "convention-only" TV channel, and somebody else records it ? And most idiots don't care about it and prefer to get drunk ?

That's right.
And after they sobered up they feel the need to come in here and bitch about that nobody has uploaded a torrent yet, calling them 'hoarders'.

I've got some 2nd gen SVHS 'QTV Masters' on SVHS tape (now transferred to DVD). The quality varies considerably and some still have the time code burnt in.

Allright thanks for clearing things up...! Heard a different story about the QTV videos. But I don't doubt you are telling the truth.

Miklos: Good to see you are here. Could you send me an e-mail? Got some nice stuff to trade.

Have you ever heard the convention recordings of the unreleased demos with the huge amounts of chatter over the top? Now take your comment about idiots prefering to get drunk and make it into a statement and not a question! It amazes me that folks talk their way through all this stuff they've never heard before!

Yes, I don't understand why they don't simply shut up ! BTW is anybody willing to share any of these DVDs here ?
