Nothing new or interesting really but listened to Queen or any related material i.e. solo etc in over 6 months this morning & it has dawned on me, how dull & un-exciting the band became in the 1980's compared to this band of joy label (uk) release from 1989

Indeed- and if they released those other 4 sessions, which in my opinion wre even better, especially the 6th one- the difference would be even bigger... SPREAD YOUR WINGS or WHITE QUEEN, the BBC sessions... I actually rate them as THE BEST things Queen have ever commited to tape- together with 2-3 songs from their regular albums, like FLICK OF THE WRIST or DEATH ON TWO LEGS...
Those BBC sessions- THAT'S what I understand as Queen sound...!

Just to note that there's nothing "live" about these recordings. In fact one of the sessions featured on the CD uses many elements from the original 'Queen' first album tapes. (not yet released at the time)

I think retailers are so baffled as to what this release might be that they mistakenly label it as 'live' sometimes.

Aside from that, yeah all of the BBC stuff stands well on its own and a proper release of the remaining sessions would be most welcome :)
