I have googled a few reviews - but most are no more than publicity fly-sheets.

I am looking for a 5.1 home cinema surround (Dolby/Pro-logic) system to compliment Sky HD, DVD recorder - and Wii. (It would be nice if it was future proof so I could add HDDVD or Blue Ray at a later date).

I do not want another DVD player - so I am not interested in DVD home cinema systems.

In short, what do you guys use, and what would you recommend?

I have been using a Yamaha receiver for several years with no issues. My speakers (center, L, R, rear L, rear R, sub) are all from Paradigm. Also, no complaints.

Easily outclasses my decade old Sony TV and old Dell laptop.

Check out newegg.com and crutchfield.com in case you haven't already.

EDIT
**I just realized what my user name is. I'm affiliated with Yamaha in an automotive sense. Still, I like the company and their products.**

Thanks...

Just tried newegg.com and crutchfield.com - seems like there is some nice pieces there - pity they are American, because I don't think they will work over here.

It's always better to get some personal recommendations - than to read the 'company propaganda' they post on line.

A friend also recommended play.com (for UK readers) - which I would not have thought of - as I assumed they were just DVD specialists.

Thanks for the ideas and contributions.

If anyone is interested - here is the system I decided to go for in the end. It boiled down to a compromise between quality and budget. Sure, there are better systems out there, but for the price, I thought this was a bit of a bargain.

A little bit of shopping around did bring the price down:

Hopefully, this should put a bit more punch into those Queen DVD's.
Anyone else wish to comment on this - or any other hardware?
