I was wondering: The single has been out for a week now, but I haven't heard from ANYONE that they actually got it.

Here in The Netherlands you can't find it anywhere, and I also haven't spoken to anyone who ordered it from the fanclub.
Even big record stores like 'Free Record Shop' and 'van Leest' haven't got it, as far as I know..

And on this forum I also haven't seen anyone, apart from 'rpm' from Germany who drove 70 kilometers to buy it.

So... anyone?

Mine arrived from Queenonline this morning.
(But I do live in the UK).
Same as the German version written about previously.

It would appear they have dropped the ball yet again in terms of promotion and distribution.

I ordered mine from Amazon UK, and it shipped on Dec. 3rd (during the afternoon/evening I assume), so I'll be waiting at least a week from then to get it.
Usually, I receive British packages faster than I do with packages from United States and Japan, which are the top two countries I normally import from, so hopefully I won't be waiting too long on this.

I'm worried however, that the seemingly lack of stock in the UK record stores is really going to hurt the single's charting position for its first week, which I believe will be posted tomorrow or Monday...

I haven't found it yet in Virgin (or whatever it's called now) or HMV in Reading or Bluewater. I thought it would turn up by now, especially after Brian promoted it on TV yesterday. I know Queenx=zone had a late delivery, but not getting it in major record shops in the first week is amazingly poor.

I bought it in a normal shop, it was the only copy. I listened only once, because I could not detect any difference to the downloaded version. I paid 3,35 euro, quite a lot but it's for charity, isn't it. The CD has the following disclaimer:

"This multimedia programme is provided to the user without warranties, express or implied, of any kind. EMI Records Ltd shall not be liable for any actual or consequential damage arising from the use of, or the inability to use the programme. This is an Enhanced CD"

That gives the word "enhanced" a new meaning:)

Though It was announced for 31th december, had to wait yesterday to find it in Store in Paris, and had got to ask for it (was still in boxes!)

But I can tell you my worst moment was the day I thought it be released, I dropped by a Virgin Megastore, and was answered, when asking for it:
"Queen? Is it a group or a single singer?"
"Oh The group from the 70's? they still do new stuff?"

Can you believe that sucker?!

At Amazon Germany the single is No. 583 in the music saleslist....And it seems there isn´t any promotion.

I played the song a few times to friends of mine, but their feedback wasn´t very positive....
All of them (normal people, not fans) said: Queen without Fredie isn´t Queen. I think people aren´t interested in Queen without Freddie.

Only the small space of die-hard-fans like us buy everything they release.

I couldn't see any logic in releasing it as a free download on World AIDS day anyway....and then try to sell it as a single a couple of weeks later.

I'd give them respect had they released it as a single on World AIDS day, with proceeds going to the Mercury Phoenix Trust or something similar.

It certainly would've raised more money for charity. Can anyone tell me if it is infact a "charity" record?

Sadly, I agree with the above. So much has been made about Freddie's legacy lately, and quite right too, that the idea of Queen without him is about as appealing to the general public as a trip to the dentist.

I got mine in HMV. All the singles are on the back wall of the shop, there were quite a few Queen + PR ones.

I too got my copy from HMV, in Exeter (in the UK) and they had about 8 copies under the New Releases section of the chart, this was on Wednesady a few days after it's release. I asked in Vigin/Zavvi and they said they hadn't had it in yet.
It should never of been available as a free download, but should of been available as a physical release CD and download at the same time at the usual cost of a single (after all it's the money raised they are after, not just promoting the cause).
I know it was to promote 46664 as the band couldn't make the concert on World Aids day, but they should of just shown the video on the day and that would of caused a rush of sales when it was released. I suppose only a fraction of the 100,000 people who downloaded the track for free, will actually pay for it again in it's physical form, and they would be collector's and hardcore fans I guess.
We'll see tonight where the single is in the UK singles chart. You have to realise too that if you don't get any radio airplay then you won't have a hit single, and it's not really a 'radio song' in today's market of mainly R'n'B and Pop groups. It is very rare that rock bands make the Top 20 anymore, especially the classic bands and Queen's contemporaries. Status Quo, The Rolling Stones and The Who and many others have all had flop singles (not reaching the Top 40) released in the last couple of years. The only exception is Iron Maiden, who like Queen have a strong fan base who will buy everything and give them a Top 20 placing.
Although Queen are always winning polls over here in the UK, and their 'old' records still get played a lot on the radio and TV, and are still one of the top UK bands ever, even with youngsters, that won't guarantee a hit single, as singles are aimed at the younger record buying public. You can see this in the album charts where the music is mainly top pop bands and Rock bands, who might not even of had a big selling single out.

I ordered it at CDON last week, but here the shops (The Netherlands) I didn't see it.
I ordered it at CDON (Sweden), because I also ordered some singles from another band that is only available in Sweden BTW.
