Do they actually think Russians have that kind of money?

Russians bought damned English football clubs and hired one coach from one certain country for their national team, so don't worry Niek...

"small percentage of russians from Moscow can afford that price"

Bullshit. From the rest of Russia - true, but not people from Moscow.

I looked up the ticket prices for the upcoming Rihanna concert in Moscow and the price range is about the same: 25 - 1500 euros. I don't know which venue she plays and what the categories are but apparently 300 euros is not unusual for a decent ticket in Moscow. Let's hope that the other venues are not that expensive.

Lorenzo,

As the guy who lives all his life in Moscow - I can confirm you too: a lot of people in Moscow can afford that price (except old men, the state doctors and teachers). We used to such prices, we're not happy about them, but what we can do? I paid about $500 for ticket on Brian's show in 1998 and it wasn't seat near Spike Edney on the stage.

Whenever any "big" West artist is playing in Russia - it's always in Moscow or Saint-Petersburg (just take a look at their mini-tours in Germany, for instance and compare both countries), simply because people in other towns won't buy tickets with price more than 100 euros. It's sad, but Moscow and Russia are different countries...

If you people think it's "absurd" to charge high prices in countries known as poor, you should live in Brazil for a couple of years.

Tickets here can be more expensive than that (it's not everyday that a big international act plays here), yet it sells out really fast. A small PERCENTAGE of wealthy people doesn't equal a small amount of wealthy people. 1% of the population from Brazil is 6 times the population of Iceland (Brazil: 1,800,000 inhabitants; Iceland: 300,000 inhabitants).

U2 sold Morumbi Stadium out in 2006 in less than 48 hours. I was away from home, on a trip, when I read on a Monday morning that tickets had just started being sold (and I decided to order mine as soon as I got home). On Wednesday I read the tickets had already sold out. And the tickets costed more than many families earn in a month to buy food!

Most people in Russia won't be able to afford the tickets, but I'm sure there will be wealthy Russians upset because the tickets sold out before they got theirs.
