This is not a bashing paul rodgers thread. I listened to ROTC and the whole thing just sounded kinda ridiculous, especially the 2nd CD.

After a while you get sick of the solos...

Also the sound sounded i don't know, sloopy or too mellow. Like if you compare the show must go on guitar with that of the version with elton john that guitar sound sounds way better.

Plus got sick of all these anthems on CD2...IWIT, SMGO, we will rock you is ok, but WATC sucks...and a kind of magic sounds pathetic. Maybe pauls voice is too bluesy and mellow, freddies voice was edgy. Like even take brians voice in I want it all where he sings - even his voice sounds edgy there and really adds to the song, reminded me of freddie if he could have been there.

at least this next tour will be new music, because there's something inevitable about the show must go on, radio ga ga & co. etc

I completly agree with you... but, what else can we do? freddie is dead, and i dont think that if you say to brian that he sounded better in the past, he will do something about it, you know the lirycs:

"Man who learn how to teach, then forgot how to lear" or something like that...

The RS sound is quite different this days, and the last official live recording we had to compare was from 1993, when Brian had a different treble booster. I'm not really able to describe in words the difference but I'm sure that's what you notice.

I must say i wasn't happy with the drum sound on the ROTC album. The snare and cymbals were ok, but the toms all sound the same kind of. Although saying that, seeing them live the drums sounded fantastic, so a bit of a mixing issue for the CD/DVD.
Can't wait to see them again, gonna be great!

The drums in "Super Live.." DVD sound GREAT... so different to ROTC... bah... everything is different and better, the guitar too... and I prefer this sound guitar... to the sound of the seventies or eighties...
