What Queen albums DON'T you own?

For me, I don't own Hot Space, The Works, A Kind of Magic or The Miracle.

Have I listened to them? Yup. Do I know the songs? Yup. But never have I owned them. The songs I like are either on Greatest Hits, or I've purchased them/gotten them from friends.

I guess they're just Queen's most filler-filled (har har) albums to me...aside from the key tracks (usually singles), those albums never really floated my boat.

The rest I own though. :-) Either through purchase, burning CDs, or ripping songs on a one-by-one basis from friends/college mates (no Limewire or BitTorrent though).

You guys?

Oh, and if you wanna include live albums, that's cool. I have Live at Wembley '86, Queen Rock Montreal, and Live Killers.

Live at the Bowl is SO GOOD but DAMNIT too many Hot Space tracks! Even though even they sound amazing live, I can't help but always think that the concert could be their definitive live statement (of their official live releases, anyway) if you had some more classic Queen tracks in there (Don't Stop Me Now, Killer Queen, etc). But Fat-Bottomed Girls is in there...so woo...but I'm sure I'll end up buying this sometime anyway.

I have all the official releases. I really enjoy all the albums you mentioned, so I think I'm biased to comment on that.

Hot Space is a very interesting recording and their live performance of the songs from this album are damn good, in my opinion. For better or for worse, it was also an influential album, and Michael Jackson is known to have borrowed elements from Hot Space. If that's good or not, well, that's another story. ;-)))) I think it is, but then my musical taste is no pattern for anyone. lol

I like "The Works" from start to finish, from the first song to the last. ;-)))) When I listen to Queen live recordings from the 70's or early 80's, I do miss Hammer To Fall, for instance! lol

"A kind of magic" is very good too...lol. The Miracle? Wonderful! Really. Innuendo? Quite good, though it's, in my humble opinion, Queen's worst album, and it's still very good. lol

Made in Heaven? Fantastic. From start to finish.

Live in Wembley? Stunning! The guys are in good shape, the setlist is good and Freddie is singing very well.

Hum...At the Bowl? My favorite. :-) I love the live version of Back Chat. lol

Rock Montreal? Amazing! Freddie's the devil himself there, he does it all, his singing in "Somebody to Love" beggars belief! And it's the ONLY time he ever sang the Falsetto in Under Pressure. lol Dragon Attack is better than in MK: that cavernous dark "yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah" frightens me. lol Though it'd be better had he not forgotten some lines. But then...well, the concert is good throughout, and they play "Let Me Entertain You" and "Killer Queen", songs I really miss in At the Bowl, MK.

Hm...yeah, I think I like it all. lol

Back Chat, Back Chat, dan-dan-dan-dan...lol. Really enjoy the song. John Deacon had his tricks too!

Well...I do see where you're getting at - Queen sounds more pop and "mainstream", whatever that means, in the 80's. I think that's good, it's important to change, not to do always the same kind of music. There are people who hate it and think it's rubbish, OK! Right! De gustibus non est disputandum!

But I can see your point...

Thanks for the post! It made me realize how uncritical a fan of Queen I am. : -)

Aww, I wasn't trying to say at all that their 80's albums were necessarily subpar, just that they (in my opinion) didn't measure up to the amazing standard they set in the 70's.

And I too, miss Hammer to Fall in the live recordings from the 70's/early 80's.

And I certainly appreciate/respect Hot Space, but that kind of dance music just isn't my thing...well, I like some, but I didn't like the way Queen did (with a few exceptions, and of course the live versions).

All you're trying to say - instead of buying the albums you stole them by burning them! Great :(

I own all the albums which were officially released in the UK, including the 12" collection. There's never been a doubt in my mind about getting all of them, even though I've never cared for the unimaginative late 70's.

The only album I haven't bought on cd, and have never heard is Queen Rock Montreal. I did buy the vinyl version to complete my collection, so technically I have that album as well. :P

ok i'll be honest
when i first got into queen the only albums i had was greatest hits 1 & 2
and just one day i decided too collect them all which i have now.
Some of the albums i have are second hand & the other one i have collected i maxed out on my credit card on so i could get them on.
But the hardest album i had trouble with too find was queen rocks that was the hardest in my collect too find i just was going too give up but i ended up finding it in the end.(YAY GO ME)

the only albums i dont have of queen of killer queen that wasnt done by queen only other singers doing their music & the other one is the queen + paul rodgers.
and too be honest with you all i will never buy the queen+pr because i just do not like him.
but if i ever seen any queen album they have done with Freddie & John i would buy in a heart beat.

now i'm collecting them all on LP's so i would have too say i'm half way there now so i'm going pretty damn good with all my collect i have with QUEEN & just too think once i hated this band with a passion.

I also know their are Queen fans younger then myself as well.
I'm only 23 years old & i'm only been into queen for about 4 years now.
and a rough finger that i have spent on my queen collection would be around $3000 i know it doesnt sound much too other queen fans but i have never spent something this much on my self in my life.

And i really hope i never get sick of them band because i dont know what i would do with all my stuff i have brought & i would have too get both of my tattoos i got burnt of so i really wouldn't want too get sick of them either way.

Queen
Queen II
Sheer Heart Attack
The Game
Flash Gordon
Hot Space
The Works
A Kind of Magic
The Miracle
Innuendo

Plus all compilations, live albums and that big hoax (though excellent work), 'Made in Heaven'.

John hated HS. Fred's fave singer was not PR. Roger didn't compose 'Innuendo.' Witness testimonies are often inaccurate. Scotland's not in England. 'Bo Rhap' hasn't got 180 voices.

This is an interesting topic idea. I know for a fact that there are some who claim to be major fans and don't own even the core studio albums. It kind of amuses me actually, seeing them speak here, write books, etc.

As for me, I can't claim to own everything, such as compilations from other countries or stuff which came before my time and is out of print. I intentionally passed on some Japanese releases such as the 'Jewels' and 'In Vision' volumes. I get enough hits packages rehashed in my own country, thanks. (Still waiting for A-Z vol. 2)

But my glorious collection can be viewed via my sig..

I think the A-Z thing is pretty cool. Although, the songs being not quite in alphabetical order makes no sense. The sleeve on Stone Cold Classics is enough to make me not want to buy it. I'm sure I'll break down and get it eventually, though.
