CMI said (in the LACK OF QUEEN PRODUCT thread)...

Greg, One year ago, when we discussed content of Queen Live archive, You have promised 70's live concert on DVD will be released this spring. Does anything from Queen (not Q+PR) will be released this year?

GB replies. NO I DID NOT. I never ever PROMISE anything. I merely hint or suggest and, usually to QZ's great frustration, I always then cover myself by saying there are no guarantees of this - IT'S UP TO THE BAND, not their Archivist.

CMI, stop telling porky pies, you little brute. You are bending the truth like some QZ-ers would like to bend my neck!!!

Greg, nobody wants to break your neck :-) We're just sometimes too passionate in our responses but I think nobody means it bad :-)

So everything you say is just a complete waste of time. Well, thanks for finally owning up to that Greg, most of us realized this by now.

Can't disagree with anything you say here and anyone who expects you to be the major influence on a decision to release is not at the races!

What are the driving forces behind what DOES get released and what does not?

Who are the decision makers and what processes do they go through to make these decisions?

In terms of the archive, what suggestions are you able to make as to what "ought" to be released?

Are you able to go in as something of a guiding light in terms of what the fan base want to see released?

Where the box sets are concerned, if Brian and / or Roger and / or John went to Parlophone and said "I want a rarities set out there", would it happen?

I could picture John going into their office and saying "Get a fucking box set out, NOW!" and then taking his belt off and whipping the hell out of whoever is there.

There is nothing stopping them from releasing the boxsets but themselves. EMI don't own the rights to any of the bands recordings and have no control over what is handed to them by QPL. They can license the (so far unreleased) recordings to anyone for release. I think the chances of EMI not wanting to release the most exciting Queen release/s since Made In Heaven is slim to none.
