It's just been confirmed that Any Winehouse is playing at the 46664 gig.

What an absolute joke - here's a charity committed to AIDS, a disease spread hugely through intravenous drug use, and they giving stage time to one of Britain's most famous junkies who has no respect for the law, for others, or herself - they should be ashamed.

You know, Amy isn't nearly as bad as the papers make her out to be. She drinks in places where I drink and she's actually surprisingly normal. I'm not saying she isn't a drug addict, or a heavy drinker, but what I am saying is that I think people are too quick to judge.

She's actually probably the most talented female singer/songwriter that Britain's seen for a long time. SO THERE.

So you don't like her, she's not to your taste, fair enough. But she IS talented and she can sing, that's not really up for discussion.

I can tell you're just one of those sexist oafs who like to call women 'slappers' for no reason, so I'm not really going to get anywhere.

She's just an entertainer.

It's amazing how many male singers are all messed up on drugs and booze and nobody says anything... because she's a woman, everyone has an opinion on how she should run her life.

Really... anyone have any issues with Oasis?

The best years of Guns N Roses, Rolling Stones and Aerosmith were fueled by booze and coke.

Maybe she'll clean up, maybe she'll die... whatever. If she wants to do the Aids concert and more people are gonna watch cause she's there...

where's the problem?

Totally agree with the things "Freya is quietly judging you." is saying.

I like Amy. Don't give a damn about the fact she uses dope. Freddie used cocaine, John Deacon visits strip clubs. Who gives a damn? Live and let live....

I don't have a problem with her voice (she is a great singer), and what she does in her personal life is up to her.

My problem is with the organisers of the concert (Brian/Jim Beach??) for choosing her to publicise a charity that is not appropriate to her character or lifestyle or public image.

it really isn't dignifying for a man of Nelson Mandela's character and integrity to have to shake her hand and ask what she does to support his AIDS charity, to which the answer is nothing but feed the dealers who help to spread the disease.

True, couldn't agree with you more bro...

I adore Amy, I like the babyshambles and I really love Jimi Hendrix, what these people do in there private life is their own business, I guess they have their reasons for it....

I think this is the key point - drug users should not be contributing to a show designed to combat a disease partially spread by drug users!

I dont think she should be contributing to anything in the state she's clearly in at the moment, and she'll probably delay the show by turning up late - but thats a separate issue.

I agree - let people do what they want in their private lives, but when that massively impacts on their performances - as is clearly the case with Winehouse, then people are being short changed by getting a shite show (or no show at all).

As for the comments about people getting at her cos she's a woman - get real; Pete Doherty has received huge amounts of press for his addictions and innability to stay out of trouble, and mostly this has come out very negatively on him - I hate the idiot!

And this attitude of using drugged up bands who did good work on drugs as some way of suggesting drugs are a good thing - dont be ridiculous! Aerosmith were destroyed by drugs, to the point where Jo Perry left, and couldnt come back until he and Tyler were clean, the music became utter garbage and Ive seen shows where they were drugged up, and they were complete shite! Slash nearly died a few times from drug use, and Hendrix IS dead from excess - arguably the greatest guitarist ever, no longer here to make great music.
Some people need to grow up.
