Hey all, just got ahold of a copy of this 2 CD set "Jeff Scott Soto - The B-Sides" and on the 2nd disc there are a number of Queen tracks, that it states are from the "unreleased JSS Queen EP" and these tracks are the oginal Backing tracks but with JSS' vocals on them instead of Freddie's can anyone shed any light on these at all? as in when were they recorded and such.

I dont think Queen would give permission to just use their original backing tracks for an official release for someone else. (at least I wouldnt) So if that is the case, these tracks can be considered fan-mixes/covers and therefor not official, and subsequently can be shared here. But this is all just logical assumption, nothing more.

Whether these contain the original Queen backing tracks is irrelevant Im afraid - this material will be subject to copyright, and without the permission of whoever owns the recording any sharing done here is technically illegal. In other words, it doesnt matter that its not official Queen material, if its official JSS material thats enough! The difference with fan contributions is that the people responsible for those recordings give permission/upload them here personally. I dont know how bothered JSS or whoever owns the recordings would actually be about them being shared here, and they therefore might not bother taking any action, but they would be well within their rights to do so if they wanted.

The JS Soto management emailed to Queenzone asking that this CD should not be distributed, it was a private session for family and friends and not meant to be published.
I do not want any google ads here.

A very strange request considering the original mail... dobo wrote: just got ahold of a copy of this 2 CD set "Jeff Scott Soto - The B-Sides" and on the 2nd disc there are a number of Queen tracks... from the "unreleased JSS Queen EP"... I take it that Dobo's 2 CD set is a legitimate release?

John, they said that the CD mentioned in this thread is an "illegal bootleg" and was never meant to be published. I told them that it was obviously not distributed on QZ but I would post the request just to make sure.

Oh yes - I totally agree with this decision, as I think it is both morally and intellectually correct. However, this set was easy enough to find, and for all intents and purposes it looks more kosher than bootleg - that's why I thought it was an official release. However, I do bow to Mr. Soto's request that it should not be distributed - especially in here.

But I am curious what is on this CD, as to the involvement of Brian and Roger. Were they on all the tracks? Is this Jeff's "Tribute to Queen"? What's the scoop?

So, Dobo, are Brian and Roger playing on the Queen tracks? Or is it just an "appearence" or "guest solo" or something? Also, is that Doctor Doctor a cover of The Thompson Twins song? It must be painful.
