The topic title would make an intrigueing new slogan for the state tourism authority. The link doesn't seem to be working Pieter.

For some reason you need to copy and paste it. It has to have the / at the end of the address for it to work.

SC was backward and reactionary in 1820, in 1850, in 1857-58, in 1861-65, in 1914-1918, and probably in all periods in between and after. Isn't it a capital offense to use the word "gay" in any sense other than "cheerful" there? I'd be willing to bet money on their still referring to Leviticus as legal authority on sodomy cases.

"For our gay visitors, it is actually quite wonderful for them to discover just how much South Carolina has to offer - from stunning plantation homes to miles of wide sandy beaches,"
the statement said.

Forgive me for not being a daffodill, but is there some sort of gay turn-on with plantation homes or sandy beaches?

Did Freddie own a plantation home?

Charlie? Can you throw a little light on this subject?

Did you ask for me Microwave dear? Yes the alternative lifestyle community enjoys visiting such seaside locations as Charleston, South Carolina, Savannah, Georgia and Key West, Florida which feature Victorian era buildings, antique shops and carriage rides. Ofcourse Microwave and myself are a bit different. We enjoy visiting South Padre Island with the staff from his hairsalon.

Yes, for one the language gap. I, for one, know the proper use of a pronoun. Living in the south has made me appreciate the use of proper grammar. If you're going to make a witty comeback, the key is: It's got to be witty. If you dumb it down like Larry The Cable guy, it no longer becomes funny. (See: Larry The Cable guy)

My wife's first boyfriend (from 20 years ago) used to live with his partner in Charleston SC until about a year ago. They said that Charleston had a thriving, well-known gay community, and that the gay community was "well-tolerated" in the "conservative" south (almost no lynchings!).

I used to have a gay geometry teacher...
his last name was Fette XD
and he got pissed off if you called him confetti.
well, he sometimes talked about his old boyfriend during class (which by the way was odd and disturbing because no teacher actually talks about his/her love life at school..) and whenever someone pissed him off (which was everyday since we were his worst class), somebody would whisper "someone didn't get laid last night" and he would start yelling hysterically about how disrespectful it was to get off the subject (he meant math).
well there's tons of stories about him, but i hated that teacher so much!!! >< i'm so glad i don't have him anymore!!
