Dear all,

Do we have any word on whether the Japanese version of the album will include any bonus tracks (e.g. "Runaway")?

Japan will get two versions of the cd: the regular one and a 2cd set. The second disc will have the audio of Super Live in Japan. This 2cd set will be released October 8th.

Ok, call me a moron, but why does the japanese editions often contain bonus material?

It's not a moronic question at all and for YEARS purplexed me to no end to the point where I got ANGRY about it! It's all good though as the point is that people from Japan would buy import versions and not the ones made in their own country. So by adding bonus features it gives them a motive to buy the c.d. made in their own country. I think it might have also been cheaper at times to buy import c.d.s into Japan. Interesting, huh?

Thank you very much for the information, Walter!

For me, having a (small) label, export to (small) Japanese "import" retailers is quite attractive as they are ready to spend a bit more even on newcomer releases - provided the quality is high - than, for example, US or other European retailers will. - In imports of releases which are not regularly distributed in Japan, the 'added bonus feature' is no requirement, of course.

In general, I will admit that bonus material (songs, Japanese lyric sheets) is an interesting alternative to import taxes, economically speaking. ... If only we other nations didn't have to wait for a band's anniversary ere they scrape their bonus tracks together for a - ever too often incomplete - celebratory release. *sigh*

Thanks again and best regards,
Jan
