I went to see Brian May on his "Another world" tour in 98 at the Palais theatre in Melbourne. It was a awesome show. Will never forget it....Eric Singer (from Kiss) was on drums, and his 2 back up singers were the girls from Bjorn Again. After the show, We waited out the back entrance for Brian to come out, I missed getting a autograph, but when he got in his limo, I managed to shake his hand through the window. Amazing night!!! Did anyone else see the oz tour and any cool stories?

I was only 12, and couldn't see it.

HOWEVER :D

My lecturer at TAFE, a guy called Gus Warburton, gets most of his money by being the driver for big touring bands when they come to Perth.
(I shit you know; this guy *stole* Eric Clapton's lunch once.)

Anyway, if I recall correctly the Perth gig was the last date on that tour? Not sure.
My lecturer drove Brian to and from the gig (might have been at Metros or something in the city, maybe someone can back me up here?)
and Brian was underwhelmed... actually quite disappointed at the turnout.

While being driven to his hotel or whatever, after the gig, Brian was picking my lecturers brains over 'what went wrong' and why the turnout was so lousy.

Again, I wasn't old enough to go to the gig (and I was crushed about this, I really wanted to see Brian). So I can't vouch for the attendance being terrible, or Brian just being used to much bigger crowds than my little town....

Just thought I'd mention that. For almost every act that tours Perth, my old lecturer has a story about them. I miss the guy, actually.

Not Australia, but saw Brian in Utrecht. I was just 13 years old and it was my first concert. Great tour! Just wish the video Albert Hall show got released in 2000 as promised - instead of being cancelled :(

and this makes me think I´m getting old :P

In 1998 I was 10 years older than you and .. yes, saw Brian in Barcelona during the Another World Tour ... as I saw him twice also in Barcelona during the Back To The Light period, first supporting Guns n´Roses (fantastic show: Suicidal Tendencies+Brian+Guns)and months later in a memorable gig, wich video recording has been bootleged and has been available here many times.

I enjoyed the Another World Tour show in ´98, but I remember the BTTL show was much better, in terms of musical quality.

The only show I could not attend because of my age took place in August 1986 ... I was only 10 and my parents didn´t allow me to go seeing a certain band called Queen with a certain singer called Freddie ...

Where´s Doc Brown and his DeLorean when you need him?

1998 at The Palais. You bet. One of the best nights of my life. A group of friends basking in a beautiful moment and singing their guts out. I also stood in the cold waiting and hoping - we probably saw each other. It was frickin freezing, we waited for ages, we got a "Thanks Guys" and he was gone. I remember Tarago rather than limo. Fantastic show. Also saw Queen at The Entertainment Centre in '85!

No, no digital cameras back then, and I could not afford a film camera. I remember seeing The Kinks, Sweet, Elo, Kiss, Bryan Ferry and Stevie Wonder here all about time I saw Queen. Those were the days.

I saw Brian the first time on June the 21st 1993 in Rotterdam. The best concert I have ever attended. Just blew me away. Despite the bad support band, some Brazilian noise band, the crowd was amazing, making waves before the show and sang along so loud on Love Of My Life, which he dedicated to Freddie. The intro with The Dark and then he was standing there with all his hair. Great!

I saw him as well in 1998 in Utrecht but that couldn't top 1993. It was in Vredenburg, great acoustics but not a rock 'n roll venue. Too clean to sophisticated..

Yes- had front row tix to the gig he played at the (brilliant) Enmore Theatre in Sydney. Slapped his hand during the show too.
Also saw Queen in '85 at the Ent Cent. -my first gig. Not a bad start really.

Like Pim Derks, I saw Brian in Utrecht 1998.
I was 15 y/o at the time and it was my very first rock concert.

It felt so good being able to, after being a fan for 8 years, finally sing along to Queen songs played by their guitarist in a live concert.

Made some pictures with an instant camera because I had no clue how to record the show (luckilly other people did).

Wish some employee at Vredenburg recorded the silent footage shown on the in house monitor in the foyer of the building.

...actually, it was the Capitol Theatre -my mistake. I lined up for hours outside the Enmore to BUY the tickets...hence my mistake.

I saw Brian in Melboune, Sydney , Newcastle & Brisbane in 1998 (and at the WWRY after-shows with Roger in 2003 and 2004). I met the boys a few times, got stuff signed, caught Eric Singers drumstick at Newcastle and stole a few promo posters ;-)
Oh and he signed my Red Special copy at the Palais Theatre before the show.

I've heard from a few sources that the Perth show was packed but maybe Brian thought the venue was small even though it was full, it has been said that he nearly went home after the Adelaide show (he was that pissed) but the Melbourne crowd inspred him to finish the tour.

I flew from New Zealand to see him at the Alexander Hills Hotel, in Brisbane.

Great show.
