Genuine test pressings don't have "limited edition" written on them

Penetration Guru, many websites say that there are many stories surrounding this, mostly because of poor recollections of the chain of events leading up to the production of this. Many refer to an article from "record collector" in 1998 which, if I can recall correctly, states that it is a test pressing, or it is a run-off copy which was meant to be destroyed at the plant.

Regardless of what is the correct version of the story, the vinyl is 100% genuine. The bootlegs are no-where near the quality of this piece, believe! I bought one of the boots never thinking that this one would turn up. As it happens, after I bought this one, another showed up (this time, numbered and with sleeve) so this is why I offer the un-numbered one for sale/trade. The boots have the wrong label, are the wrong shade of blue, aren't transluscent and have a different (hand-written) matrix.

As a matter of interest, if it were to be that the story claiming it is a test pressing is correct, why wouldn't it have "special limited edition"? It would be a test to see what the rest of the run would be like, wouldn't it?

Anyway, photos are available to show it is the real thing - price offers or trade offers welcome!

Why would someone be interested in this blue vinyl single if there's a full set (invitation, glasses, scarf, numbered blue vinyl in picture sleeve) to look out for?

I don't get it. It's like buying a fiat panda because you can't afford a ferrari but hey... the fiat is an italian car as well...

Because test pressings either had blank labels or stock labels.

I'll give you £10 for it.

Yeah, like the whole package comes up every day Ducksoup. And most fans can afford it as well, lol.

Hey, this was a simple, genuine advert from a genuine fan and collector looking for a simple trade or sale from another decent fan - if you're not interested PG then that's fine, you just don't have to be so snide about it.

I'm sorry, aren't I allowed an opinion?

If you think I was being snide, then you need to see some of my other posts.

And the £10 was a genuine offer - that's what I think it's worth, having been collecting Queen records for almost exactly 20 years.

Still, if I'm not "genuine" enough just because my opinion is that it's a pirate, then you can fuck off.

That said, I don't claim to be infallible, so if any of the other collectors on here have a view, I'm interested to see it.

PG, yes you are entitled to an opinion, I didn't say otherwise, did I? I also never posted the thread in order to partake in a verbal joust with yourself or any other member of the site for that matter.

There was absolutely no need to be so rude about the original post, and to stoop to telling me to "F**k off" was a tad below the belt simply because I gave you a valid answer to your post. If you think it's a pirate, that's fine I don't really care about your opinion on this one, we've established that you're entitled to that. But I believe otherwise and am simply trying to make a trade. Speaking of trading, this is a trading post in a trading forum, so would it be possible to take your discussion, along with your opinions, and start a thread elsewhere instead of hi-jacking this one? - leave it to folk who may be interested, or just leave the thread to die. Either way, it's fine by me, but I'm not here to fight and argue with folk.

Discussions are fine, bantering is good, but insults, jibes and arguing over what is essentially just a piece of plastic, however collectable (or not, depending on your opinion) is for morons with nothing better to do with their time. For the record, PG, I believe you are not one of those people (I'd hope not anyway) so let's agree to disagree on this one and try to get along, if you'll accept? I hope that you do.

You made an accusation. Until this point I was perfectly civil.

Yes, civil up to the snide "I'll give you £10 for it". There was no need for that, you could just have answered the question and moved on. So, unfortunately I'm now of the opinion that you are a moron - so fuck off yourself you arrogant prick.

The £10 offer was genuine. If I think it's a pirate, why would I offer any more?

I own this record and it's very rare. Maybe there was some confusion in giving him the right name. Actually it's not a test pressing. The unnumbered copies never came with full set cause they were the copies in excess from the 200 hand numbered limited edition. Of course the vinyl is the same of the numbered version and reports on its label the words limited editions.. they just miss the number cause they were given inside EMI at that time (there's an article from a RC of about 10 years ago where a former EMI enployer told how he got its unnumbered copy. I have both numb and unnumb and they vinyl is the same.

So they pressed two hundred, then changed the label for some more, even though they didn't need them?

Does that sound like a likely way of proceeding?

no.. it's more likely that they pressed 250-300 blue records and only numbered 200 copies for the award occasion. There aren't different label or other. Same happened with the purple bohrap. If you look the unnumbered copies deeply they are identical to the numbered version. When I say they are the same I mean that I have compared colour, weight, sharpness of writings in the label, and above all the dna of a record: the matrix numbers in the run-off groove.
