I have a question, I'm thinking about buying a "video recording device" (guess for what purpose :-) ) so I need some tips.

The parameters I need

- frame size minimum 640x480, optimum 720x576@25fps MPG2
- small size (small enough to get it to a certain venue)
- ability to capture 2 and a half hours (memory card + bateries)
etc.

Any tips ?

The battery life is 130minutes.
And a tape is approx 94mins long.
The quality is MP2 @ i dont know how much frames(to much to count:P).
Its only 230euro here in holland.
But i think in other country`s its around that price.

Thats a decent enough recording device. But remember your going to the concert to enjoy it, not to record it. If your behind a camera for the whole show, your going to be left with a recording of something you missed because you were too busy pointing a camera.

Arse.

Why memory card? Use a mini dv cam instead. That way you can archive your masters and burn them in uncompressed form to Blu Ray when the equipment is cheap and the time is ready (in about 3 years time I think) Always keep your master tapes!

Anyway, at the moment price / quality I think panasonic is offering the best deal.

I have very good experiences with the panasonic nv gs- series. This is my current camera:

30 times zoom. Very nice audio recording and great colors for a very reasonable price.
Big advantage of panasonic is what average filmers see a bad point: "Picture quality in low light conditions is rather grainy" Ideal for places with a lot of light :-)

You can always mail me for more info...

Small advice... Security was very relaxed in antwerpen, but extremely tough in Paris, someone even got caught next to me. So take care, really !

Well that is kinda true, BUT, You DO have a selfmade film from a gr8 concert, And you can watch it OVER and OVER again, And if you got a good soundsystem and a good TV, You can relive it as if you are still there, You know what i mean?

I've bought a JVC Everio 330.
Mpeg2. 8.5 mb's (standard def only)
30gb HD which records 5 hours.
battery that comes with lasts 100 mins, but you can buy the next size up which lasts 3 hours.

Anyone know how to sneak it in?

erhm, Put a jacket on and put the camera on the inside of the jacket in a hole, OR(Maybe dirty) put it into your pants/underwear, They never look there.
And you definatly need the extra battery, And maybe even a extra light, JVC camcorders mostly have a built in light because they arent that goog in the dark, And they are very shock sensative because its HD.
