Take the test there. You might be surprised. Some friends of mine took the test, and although they're self-described "leftists", the compass placed them in the authoritarian right, close to Hitler and company. Even you guys may be in for a surprise after taking it.

Hmm, I can't paste my link in here.

Weird. My numbers were Economic Left/Right: -3.25 and Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -3.44 if that interests anyone.

Very expected.

Far to the left, and somewhat liberal.

They'd have me arrested for communism in the USA.

It's just for fun. I don't think it's entirely accurate. I consider myself far more libertarian and much less left-wing because my views are much to the right of the leftist mainstream in West Bengal. We even have a communist government here, DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED, so I think you get the picture.

According to this thing, I may as well be Gandhi. My point on the graph was right about where his was.

Either extreme is unhealthy.

Personally I think that all left-wing and right-wing extremists should be sent to mental hospitals.

First of all,
i hate anything dealing with politics.

But I usually fall inbetween both points of view.
Like a moderate.

Cause I agree with both sides on different issues.

Like I'm against abortion, and for helping the poor.

Mine was not a big surprise for a moderate: http://www.politicalcompass.org/printablegraph?ec=-3.50&soc=-3.90

A slight lean to the left.

Economic Left/Right: -7.12
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.90

Leftist libertarian. I've voted for candidates representing right-wing parties (twice), green party (once) and social democrats for the rest. I am nowadays voting for young candidates, preferrably young female candidates. Green values are always a plus. I never vote for a certain political party, always for the candidate who's opinions are as close to mine as possible. That's why my vote has varied quite a bit.

This compass-test is clearly designed for the American audience, since it includes quite a few questions about homosexuality and gay rights. Instead of real political problems, it's always good to steer the political conversation away from real issues  towards sentimental topics that aren't really important, except for rallying support from certain groups... I think it's outrageous to waste that so much time and media coverage is spent on making political issues out of things like abortion and homosexuality, forgetting such "meaningless crap" like drugs, violence, unemployment, marginalization, enviromental issues etc. etc.

There's nothing more important in the world, than those issues that include or have included AH YEAH, penis+vagina or anus+penis. Let's get it on.

Yogurt - I didn't know there were other Music Mans (Music Men?). In any case, I remember you well, as long as you're an artistic, female Texan, which a quick perusal of your profile has confirmed. Long time no see.

Does anyone know how to properly use the quote function?

Anyway, I was surprised at how centrist my economic views were, and that all of you are more towards the socialist side of the economic spectrum. However, many questions on the test were quite obnoxious and/or leading:

"If economic globalisation is inevitable, it should primarily serve humanity rather than the interests of trans-national corporations." No one in their right mind would choose the latter - however, many people may see the prosperity of trans-national corporations as beneficial to humanity. Even if you believe that, the primary goal is still humanity.

"Controlling inflation is more important than controlling unemployment." What if I think they are equally important? I would choose "disagree," but I am sure that that isn't going to be reflected in my score.

"It is regrettable that many personal fortunes are made by people who simply manipulate money and contribute nothing to their society." If I disagree, am I saying that the assumption is false, or am I saying that it's okay for people to amass personal fortunes by contributing nothing? What if I believe that it's impossible to accumulate a fortune without contributing to society, which I do (the exception being the lottery)?

"What's good for the most successful corporations is always, ultimately, good for all of us." Who on earth would agree to that? Even still, I bet any disagreement will have this test label you as leftist.

I could take issue with the majority of the questions on that test, but these seem to be the most glaring.
