I have to tell you all about tonight's gig and what a treat it was to finally get to see Brian and Roger together. The concert was amazing!!! I had a friend (who has a wide variety of music taste, but not a Queen fanatic like myself) who said the only concert he has seen that matched the energy and enjoyment of tonight's show, was U2 at Hampden (a stadium in Scotland)! He was blown away with Q + PR's show. As he remarked, "It's more than a show... it's the theatre and extras that make it more special than other bands' gigs".

Brian sang very well and played flawlessly... Roger sang even better... glad he sang a Kind Of Magic instead of PR. Bijou brought a tear to my eye (and I'm a 30 year old man)... such a great surprise to include it in the set.

I have liked what I've seen of PR and admit he has a great voice, but maybe he was a little off tonight... I imagined he would have sounded far stronger... Roger was far better in my opinion (maybe on another night I don't know? Paul sounds great on the bootlegs and official dvds I have, so maybe tonight was just an off day... Even Freddie had some bad voice days so I'll not be too harsh.... but I'm only judging PR by HIS normal high standards, not anyone else's). He still did the gig immense justice and had great energy and appeal. He did mess up a couple of numbers though (again IMO)... mainly the start of Radio Ga Ga (2nd verse was better) and AOBTD (mainly just timing, as if just remembering the lyrics at the last minute. He did do an excellent CLTCL and a very good Show Must Go On. It must be difficult to contend with Freddie's powerful Montreal 81 Bo Rap belting it's way over the tannoy's though, reminding the audience of how abnormally strong Freddie's voice was, but Paul conducted himself with great respect and did have some "Freddie" like power moments himself (eg. last note on... "of the world" WATC... superb).

Best £50 I've spent in a long long while and so glad they played such a good set.

PS... Nice to see the normal Glasgow smart arse banter! Why can't guys just listen and be normal instead of shouting out "Fuck You" just after Brian started playing LOML, after he gave it such a nice intro... only in Glasgow lol.

Hope this little review keeps everyone's excitement levels up if you've still to see them.

P501

Well, I was very lucky to be there tonight. My brother scored some tickets on Ebay on Tuesday and offered me one! Thanks bro.

I won't review the gig cause I'm tired and can't be bothered with such things! Especially after just getting back at 3am (was at my bro's after). But I thought it was very cool. Highlight for me was probably Roger and a drum kit getting pieced together by the remo folk and then getting AKOM sung by Roger. What a nice surprise. And my fav of the new songs, We Believe, played in a really nice interesting way.

I actually got into the secc with my newly bought Canon 400D and my ZoomH4 recorder. On the downside, something happened and my H4 recorder didn't work. Don't know why, but I was gutted cause I wanted to listen back. I really wanted it after hearing my fave new track, We Believe. Oh well, on the upside I took some shots with the Canon and while there's a lot of rubbish, at times, some good stuff made it. I may post them online, but I'm not sure yet. Anyway, I'll leave you with this one from the very end of the gig - *removed* (put them in a new thread)

Btw, if someone DID record the gig, I'd love a copy. I just wish I could offer my own to everyone, but alas, it was not to be. :(

L8r,
Adam.

Thought I'd add my comments, I'm still buzzing after last night. We left Edinburgh at 6pm and it was plain sailing until we hit the signs saying the normal junction 19 turn off for the SECC was closed. Cue minor sphincter loosening moment. Glasgow isn't the best sign posted place at the best of times, and we got briefly lost in a sea of traffic cones and roadworks.

I've been a fan for 25 years, but never managed to see the band live, it's always been a regret. I've got all the albums, dvds etc so I thought I knew what to expect, but the reality just blows you away. The standard of musicianship was fantastic. There were moments were the crowd just held in awe. Brian May is a magician, incredible. The treat for me was getting to see Roger perform I'm in love with my car. The man is pure rock n roll, his drumming and vocals were fantastic throughout . He looked shattered at the end, as he said 'I'm an old man, for fucks sake!' Personally I thought Paul Rodgers was very strong. He doesn't dominate the proceedings like Mercury, but I suppose that gives a chance for Brian and Roger to shine. They've got the right balance. It was also good to see the crowd right up for it from the first moment.

Didn't make it into town Phoenix, had to relieve the baby sitters. Anyway, you know Edinburgh's much better ;-) Glad you enjoyed the show though.

For those of you with tickets, you're in for a treat. I'm just gutted it's over, it passed all to quickly.

Finally, at the age of 25 I have seen Queen live for the very first time. I was blown away, even throughout Brian's solo which was great! I still can't believe my heros since I was about 8 were performing right there in front of me,this was one of the best times I have ever had! Also they played the few songs from the new album which I actually like which was great, and I think they sounded even better live. I quite enjoyed the new songs as Paul sang them well and they are his songs, and not his interpritation of Freddie's. Music aside, I thought the lighting was fantastic and the way they made the celing look as if it were the night sky with stars was awsome.

Dude, it didn't work. Otherwise I so would have posted it for everyone. No doubt about that. But like I said, for some reason, it didn't work. That's why I'm really hoping to see someone else managed it.

Adam.

People actually said "Fuck you" to Brian? Wow, that's dumb. I think LOML suits his voice well. I wonder why that guy went to the concert if he disapproved.

I really enjoyed Roger singing AKOM... doesn't PR normally sing it? This is why I'm thinking his voice may have been a little off or he was having problems? Sounded much better with Roger anyway... his voice was on much better form... was worried as I thought RT sounded weak in the Ukraine gig at start of tour... def back to his best.

My mate loved '39... first time he'd heard it... and IILWMC... told him to get ANATO and listen to it straight through... after the gig he spoke about it non stop... we have another convert... whoopee!!!

BTW... to anyone that saw Freddie live... you are the luckiest bast*$£s in the world... I'm still telling people how good it was to hear the bo rap segment of the show.... absolutely spine tingling! I've always known he was the best... but to hear it in the arena like that and think that so many people got to hear that yester year.... grrrr... I envy you all.

My favourite song is Somebody To Love (ever)... do you think any of the three could attempt this if they added it to the set list?

Matt

EDIT : Maybe I should re phrase that that... do you think Roger or Paul could attemp STL live in the set? (Sorry Bri)

Great to see you and your ,ate had a blast on Saturday. I was there with my wife who isn't much of a queen fan and she thought it was great too. I bringing one of my mates to Newcastle on November 4th, he's a fairly new fan too but he's really looking forward to it as I've been schooling him in all things Queen and QPR for a couple of months now.

As for Somebody to Love, I really don't ever see that happening as its not Pauls style. It would be a no win situation for them to even try it. Paul performace of the song  would obviously be compared to Freddies but also to George Michaels version at the FM Tribute concert which was I have to admit a fantasic rendition. So it woulf be more hassel than its probably worth to them. Don't get me wrong I love the song too but I don't see them trying it. I'd love to hear Don't Stop me Now but again its one of those "Freddie" songs that I doubt they'd pull off.

Now "Its Late" is another story, I really don't get why that one doesn't get played. From what i can tell its not one thats ever been a regular live song. I reckon it would really suit Paul too but the fact that they've never rally played it ( As far as I can tell)probably means theres good reason for it

I agree about 'It's Late', after 'I'm in love with my car' it's one of the songs I would have loved to have heard live. It's got a rawness to it that would really suit Paul Rodgers. I've heard the live version queen did back in the day for some american radio station, it was part of a medley that included spread your wings. They sounded so tight it was unbelievable.

Need some help. I saw a lot of t-shirts on the merchandise stands, but didn't really get a chance to buy one. I checked the online Queen store and while some of the t-shirts are on there, the ones that I really fancied, aren't.

Does anyone know whether they'll be offered after the tour?? Or can they be purchased from a store elsewhere?

Adam.

I was at Glasgow too! It was amazing! I sang every song (yes, even all the Cosmos Rocks songs they did!) and I think I annoyed a lot of people around me by shouting my lungs out!

I'm not against Paul or Roger or Brian in any way, but shouldn't this be in the Q+PR tour section???

Sorry, didn't even see the Q + PR section and I've been coming to this site for many a year now lol.

Adam - Not sure about the T-Shirts... I bought the light purple Jazz T-Shirt (medium) and it's a good fit and nice and stretchy. Looks well cool with dark denims. Not as figure hugging as other T-Shirts I've bought from QOL (which for me is a good thing).

Talking about T-Shirts... where the f**k is my limited edition ANATO t shirt i ordered LAST DECEMBER lol? (took my money for it... that I do know... small wouldn't fit me anymore anyway so I'd have no use for it he he).
