I was wondering how many different sound mixes REALLY exist from the officially released Wembley 86 show.

From what I know there is at least

- an audience recording (in not really great quality)
- TV edit (probably identical with the original VHS release)
- Live At Wembley '86
- Live At Wembley Stadium (remastered, full, + bonus)
- the DVD
- a radio broadcast (does it REALLY exist ?)

I am trying to find the best possible sources for getting the real performance without any overdubs / cuts / studio work . What would you recomend ?

I can remember in 1986 when CH4 screened the show that there was a linear broadcast on the independant radio stations (these were the days before nicam stereo broadcasts) & i played the sound through my hifi & watched the tv pic. (I also remember the advert breaks having different ads, compared to the tv ads).

I can also recall seeing the Wembley concert on vinyl with a big sticker on the sleeve saying "remixed by Roger Taylor"...Can anyone confirm if this was a vinyl only remix?

Cheers[/img]

There was definitely a vinyl only version of the Lie At Wembley 86 LP, indeed remixed by Roger.  I remember seeing a copy, and I started a thread on this a year or so ago and a few posters said they also recalled it, and put up scans of the sleeve label.

I have asked Greg Brooks several times by both personal email and via several threads on here if he can give some more info, but unfortunately as is usual when it comes to something interesting regarding a genuine possibility of a very rare mix being around, he has never commented.

Hi pittrek.

The radio broadcast exists :) My uncle has a 3LP set, stating Westwood One Radio (not really sure). It even includes the original broadcast sheet. It's not the complete performance though, but I think most of it is there. Excellent condition. I could ask him to convert it one day. When I first saw it, I was simply stunned. An amazing piece of Queen history!

The Radio broadcast will necessarily be identical to the "TV edit", being a simlucast.

I remember hearing One Vision without the overdubs.  Would that have been the radio thing?

Hi Rick, I would be REALLY interested in having it, if you can persuade your uncle to do a transfer.

With the "TV edit" I meant the broadcast of the VHS edit, or was there also a live TV broadcast of the concert ?

Indeed it was.

There is only one bootleg that was surely taken from the radio or TV broadcast (the same mix, as P_G pointed out).  It's called "A Day At The Stadium".

So if anyone wants to make a compilation, then they can merge these tracks with the audience recording.

Do you have this boot ? My plan is to combine the video from the DVD with an audio compilation and pre-concert shoots (from Magic Years)

Nope, all I've got is a couple samples.

Careful with that... note that the Magic Years volume 3 footage is a mixture of Mannheim, Wembley, and Knebworth Park !

Do you know if the whole show was broadcast?  My best guess is no...

No m8, it was exactly the same as the VHS release & it was broadcast later than the show date (about a week later if my memory serves me correctly)[/img]

The broadcast version was also released several times as a double CD by Westwood One.

And there is also a special mix of One Vision included in one of the QUEEN ROCKS promo CDs from Hollywood Records.

The track listing of the 1990 VHS release and the 1986 radio rebroadcast seem like two completely unrelated things to me.

Can anyone confirm what the track listing of the rebroadcast was?  P_G ??

Here's the bootleg from the radio broadcast: http://queenonstage.com/mywebpage/adayatthestadium.htm

But at the moment I'm not certain if every track on that bootleg is from the radio broadcast, or just some of them... look where Hammer To Fall is, so who knows...

And another one, with the BBC 77 tracks thrown in...

Any answers from anyone on this?
