I was just wondering with the people that dont agree with Paul as Queens singer.Would Freddie have still been with Queen he might have left gone solo  and be a washed up star like George Michael i'e drugs .So Queen could of ended up touring with Paul anyway what do you think..

Queen would still be around producing music and doing one off shows. 1986 would have likely have been their last full tour but they'd have still played the occasional large stadium in various places all over the world I'm sure. The length between shows would have increased but Freddie was a performer, he was never likely to lock himself in a cupboard for the rest of his life despite protests of being "bored" of touring.

I think they'd have still be a commercial success too and wouldn't become one of these bands who made money soley from live shows as nobody buys their records.

John would've quit. Freddie, Brian and Roger would've continued, but not the same album-tour-album cycle. Probably an album every 4/5 years with a tour in support of it. Ofcourse, crap like Delilah wouldn't have been allowed on any album. I bet Roger and Brian were like 'c'mon, he's dying... let him have his stupid track about his frigging cat on the album - after he's gone we'll be able to make tons of money re-releasing stuff, finishing of some crappy demo's...'

I think Delilah as bad as it was, was perhaps an example (albeit a bad one) of how Queen with Freddie would just make music they wanted to with no consideration for what they "should" be doing which lead to songs like Delilah but also other songs out of left-field that became a tremendous reason for their success.

When you do something odd its either hit or miss.Delilah was a miss but it's; that mindset and mentality of just doing what you want to and being experimental and strange and slightly off the cuff that would still be around if Freddie was rather than what they are now and playing what is 'safe' rock.

A Queen album with Freddie still around  would have some rock, some ballards, some funk/disco and some silly nonsense and it'd be all the better for it.

I agree about Delilah... It may be one of their worse songs, but it's honest and I bet Fred enjoyed writing and recording it...

I'd be scared of a 60+ guy, bald, with a big beer belly, jumping like a monkey in a tutu.

I really believe that if Freddie were still alive, Queen would still be performing as a band.  It would not be a CD-Tour-CD-Tour type of life, but in some way Queen would still be a band.  I am one of the few, it seems, that the Queen name should not be used with Paul Rodgers.  While there are many bands in history lost members and still retained the name, Queen should not be used without Freddie and John...IMHO.

Just so everyone knows...I may be a newbie on the boards, but I have been a Queen fan since Live Killers...seen them twice at MSG-NYC and still consider them one of the best bands of all time.

They would have thrown his ass out of Queen by now.

John would have walked out with him and the two would go on to do pop hits like Hall & Oates.

Brian and Roger would be left to find a blues singer of some kind...

I agree in that I believe they would still be recording and touring. I think the "magic tour is the last" from Fred was all about his knowledge of his illness. If he hadn't been ill (or could have controlled it with drugs) I believe he couldn't have resisted competing with the Jaggers of this world, and I think they would still be big.

I think he might have gone back to playing the piano more to give him a rest during the show (and many people here would've loved that), but I think he'd still want to perform.

And I hope the person who said that Fred would be zonked due to drugs like George Michael was joking, because one thing I think is amazing about Queen is that even though there were obviously drugs around (mainly cocaine I think), neither Fred or Roger (Brian says he's never taken any, and I don't see John being a heavy user if at all) ever seem to have let themselves get controlled by drugs. I'm sure they've had their fair share, but look at the Amy Winehouse thing - what a waste, and not anywhere near the talent etc etc, but still a waste of the talent she does have. So I don't think they'd've have broken up or stopped recording or performing.

Shame really when you consider that only a few years later than we lost Fred, many other people were able to control their illness with drugs. If only it had happend 2 or 3 years later. Bugger.

I believe Freddie did know he was sick and knew what he was up against, and that's why the Magic Tour did so well.  The fans of course did not know what was going on, but the band did.  The stories about how Freddie recorded Innuendo, being very sick at that point, are incredible.  It just shows how much he loved Queen and the fans.

I don't think so.  He would still rock out with Queen, and mabey john deacon wouldn't have retired.  He probaly would still be active.
