Brazil - Finally Some Promotion
The Queen + Paul Rodgers gigs scheduled for this month in Brazil finally have some sort of promotion, even though too shy. This is a sticker for the last few days in the second most popular internet portal (portuguese only): http://callback.terra.com.br/queen/
They offer 2 tickets and a visit to the concert's dressroom to meet the band. Contestants must write a criative phrase about the theme "Queen + Paul Rodgers. The legends of rock. Yesterday, today and always".
Appart from that, no promotion at all has been seen, other than one or two small news in sparse websites. It seems that a TV ad has been made for the Rio gig, but it is only being aired in Rio, if so.
Queen fans have a hard time nowadays in Brazil in trying to explain to regular people, and even rock fans, that Queen has not stopped working and that they have a new album and tour with a new singer and under a new name.
Queen is hugely well known in Brazil, specially among those over 25 years old, up to elder people. Queen songs play very often in social events of all natures and people love it. Freddie impersonators are seen frequently in local fairs and on national tv shows. A local release compilation, called "Queen Collection", topped the sales ranks for months this very year.
If any serious promotion had been done, stadiums would certainly be filled with fans and regular people. As it turned out to be, only small to medium arenas were booked for the first visit of the band to Brazil in 23 years.
