Bruce Springsteen's new album "Working on a Dream" has been set for a January 27 release on Columbia Records. "Working on a Dream" was recorded with the E Street Band and features twelve new Springsteen compositions plus two bonus tracks. It is the fourth collaboration between Springsteen and Brendan O'Brien, who produced and mixed the album.

"Working on a Dream" Song Titles:

1. Outlaw Pete
2. My Lucky Day
3. Working on a Dream
4. Queen of the Supermarket
5. What Love Can Do
6. This Life
7. Good Eye
8. Tomorrow Never Knows
9. Life Itself
10. Kingdom of Days
11. Surprise, Surprise
12. The Last Carnival

Bonus tracks:
The Wrestler
A Night with the Jersey Devil

Bruce Springsteen said, "Towards the end of recording 'Magic,' excited by the return to pop production sounds, I continued writing. When my friend producer Brendan O'Brien heard the new songs, he said, 'Let's keep going.' Over the course of the next year, that's just what we did, recording with the E Street Band during the breaks on last year's tour. I hope 'Working on a Dream' has caught the energy of the band fresh off the road from some of the most exciting shows we've ever done. All the songs were written quickly, we usually used one of our first few takes, and we all had a blast making this one from beginning to end."

"Working on a Dream" is Bruce Springsteen's twenty-fourth album and was recorded and mixed at Southern Tracks in Atlanta, GA with additional recording in New York City, Los Angeles, and New Jersey.

The New York Times reports:
"When you think of colossal, muscular athletes crashing into one another at full speed, think of Bruce Springsteen: a portion of Mr. Springsteen's new song "Working on a Dream" will make its premiere on NBC's "Sunday Night Football" game between the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins this Sunday, a representative for Mr. Springsteen said. Mr. Springsteen, above, first played an acoustic version of the song at a rally for the presidential campaign of Senator Barack Obama in Columbus, Ohio, in October; a segment of the song will be played during a halftime package of football highlights. Mr. Springsteen and his E Street Band will also be the halftime entertainment at Super Bowl XLIII on Feb. 1 in Tampa, Fla."

W. K. Mahler & Bruce Springsteen "Working On Dreams"

Hello Bruceites!

I just got done reading Point Blank, the website about a new Springsteen song that is tentatively scheduled for the tentative January 2009 new Springsteen release, lyrics are below, entitled "Working On A Dream".

I don't know how long this song has been in the Springsteen catalog of "up and coming" but I do know he performed it live at a Obama (I voted for Obama) rally within a week before the election, acoustic of course.

As for my song, "I Hope I'm Dreaming", honestly, it was devised after using "Pride (In The Name Of Love)" by U2 as my ring tone! Don't worry Springsteen / Mahler fans, I've got "Badlands" as a ring tone too. I also quoted "Pride" & "40" (also by U2) in the preliminary reasons for "I Hope I'm Dreaming".

My song was performed live at "The Black Spot Cafe" of 10 Ocean Street, Hyannis, MA. along with "Pride", "Say It's Not True" & "C-Lebrity". The latter two, by Queen + Paul Rodgers. After some self examination by memory alone, I thought to myself, "geez, "I Hope I'm Dreaming" reminded me of a mix of Springsteen, Bob Dylan & Paul Stanley (of Kiss).

"I Hope I'm Dreaming", I have the poetry behind the song, the lyrics were adlib two weeks ago and have not an official writing at this time but I will also say it's about my relationship with my (now EX) wife while we were married. It is also that song you probably know well, "The Promised Land", the intro harmonica to the song, that became an inspiration for the intro to "Teddy's Song" (available at my MySpace.Com page) for sale, "Interlude - Teddy's Song" about an uncle of whom passed from cancer in 2003, October of.

I found hope and a bit of solace in reading Bruce Springsteens metamorphism's and analogies, unless of course, he was actually doing some building on his farm or elsewhere. Once again, Springsteen, you have continued to be on my wavelength and I do so much love ya for that, thank you.

Working On A Dream
(by Bruce Springsteen)

Out here the nights are long
The days are lonely
I think of you and
I'm working on a dream
I'm working on a dream

Now the cards I've drawn
Is a rough hand darlin'
I've straightened my back and
I'm working on a dream
I'm working on a dream

I'm working on a dream,
Though sometimes it feels so far away
I'm working on a dream,
And I know it will be mine someday

Rain pouring down
I swing my hammer
My hands are rough from
Working on a dream
I'm working on a dream

I'm working on a dream,
Though trouble can feel like it's here to stay
I'm working on a dream,
Well our love will chase the trouble away

I'm working on a dream,
Though it can feel so far away
I'm working on a dream,
Our love will make it real someday

The sun rises up,
I climb the ladder
A new day breaks and
I'm working on a dream
I'm working on a dream
I'm working on a dream
I'm working on a dream

I'm working on a dream,
Though it can feel so far away
I'm working on a dream,
Our love will make it real someday
I'm working on a dream,
Oh it can feel so far away
I'm working on a dream,
And our love will make it real someday

Although I'm not married anymore and my ex wife won't speak to me, I still think and feel of her everyday and night. Now with a new president in the wait to be president elect no more, but our commander in chief, I also think of Martin Luther King.

How long, must we sing this song........
"Been there, sang that"!
