I wonder if Brian and Roger will lipsync to I Want To Break Free with Freddie's original vocals.

Good riddance!

Having just listened to Brian's version of "Slow Down", I really have to wonder why the fark they felt that they ever needed a lead vocalist after Freddie.

Here is a brief summary of the Sanremo affair.

Around midnight of the 12th, the Italian Fan Club informed that minutes earlier, during the recording of a major talk show for national TV, first channel, the artistic director and host of the Festival had announced Queen among this year's guests.

He had clearly stated that Paul would not be with them, but not specified IF they would perform music, much less what / how / with whom / etc.

The talk show was to be broadcast next night (the 13th), but since the morning the "news" were all over the place in our press, with the usual inaccuracy / speculation fest.

The Fan Club had soon to specify that still no official confirmation had come from either EMI or QPL, as they'd probably need another few hours to "bridge the gap" and finalise the details of the agreement.

Later that night, the talk show was actually broadcast, but the part announcing Queen among guests was cut, probably in order to avoid "jumping the gun" publicly.

We've had a few more updates from the Fan Club since, specifying that NO confirmation had been given yet, despite the wildest speculations in the national press.

So I think I can safely say that the official current status about Queen @ Sanremo 2009 is: UNconfirmed.

Of course I'll post any updates as soon as I get them.

BTW: the Festival will open on Tuesday, 17 February and the final night will be Saturday, 21 February; Queen were supposed to appear on the first night.

HTH

I guess nobody got my joke in one of the other San Remo threads.

I had announced that I may be performing at SanRemo2009 as well.  The official announce is that Brian May and Roger Taylor MAY perform at San Remo.

I'm still keeping to my statement.  I may perform at San Remo after Brian and Roger warm up the crowd.  I will be playing Flugelhorn for Treasure Moment...

...that is if we can find a singer.
(and a guitarist)
(and a bassist)
(and a drummer)
(and a few Mel Bay "how to" books)

Well, until you do find it - basically, it's more interesting than anything Paul Rodgers sang on the new album.

Hi

Check out: http://www.last.fm/music/Brian+May/_/Slow+Down

Good example of Brian in full swing :-)

Originally written/recorded by New Orleans R&B artist Larry Williams but more famously known as a beatles track from 1964:
