Anyone ever thought of the similarity in the guitars on Gentle Giants "peel the paint" (from 1972) with Brian's classic solo spots live?

Of course we have, how could we not have noticed; you've just articulated what we've all been thinking for years

You forgot to mention that 'Gentle Giant' also recorded a version of 'God Save The Queen' on their eponymous debut album - released in 1970.
(That's a full four years before Brian began messing about with the track!).

Listen out for the drums at the beginning - and the blistering guitar solo.

"Listen to them. Children of the night. What music they make."
