Just watched the missing footage from both nights for the first time. It's so changed my feelings towards these 2 night gigs. I always hated the edited VHS I had... looked like they were...well, rubbish!

New footage shows them having so much fun with the crowd and playing far better than I first thought.... and the little mistakes make it even more fun to watch too. Ashame a better, more full concert release couldn't have been made of their performances.

Who edited the two nights on the official Queen release? Had a look and MTV, local Brazilian TV, among other sources seemed involved.

PS... also love the way Freddie just concedes that he ain't hitting the notes with the opening line to It's A Hard Life on the 2nd night. Ashame mistakes like these never see the light of day in official Queen products! Damn perfectionists lol

There wasn't MTV then. It was Globo TV and maybe someone from the QPL. Whenever they show anything about RR1 they just show the same bits over and over, it seems that Queen was the only band that authorized the filming of the whole concert. I have never seen for example any bit of the Yes concerts.

Bandeirantes TV did a much better job with São Paulo 81 though but I doubt that this tape is still alive today.

Yes, you're right! Concerts were not bad at all. And it will be great to see the QPR release of restored complete set concert from these 2 shows. But after release of any 70's concert.

It is. I found it a couple of years ago, somewhere in the net (probably with Emule). Sadly I don't have it anymore. I saw it and delete it since the picture quality was not that great (VHS from 1981) but if you were there or have special memories about that time, it's worth to look for it.

For some of you it might also be interesting that Iron Maiden included their part of this show on last year's DVD release "Live after Death". Not bad either except for some of the video quality. Funny to see Bruce and the boys using Queen's stage and lighting. He probably had no idea, he'd do Bohemian Rhapsody with Montserrat Caballe eventually....

I mean the original tape. What is circulating on the net (which is not hard to find at all) are several weird versions, some aren't near half complete. And the quality is awful sometimes because of the nth generations. I'm still searching for a good one, haven't found it yet. If they have the original tapes (Band or QPL), I bet they can be remastered to a very good degree.
