Biography (the channel) is running a "new" bio on Freddie on Thursday night. This is from Biography.com

"Queen's legendary lead singer Freddie Mercury earned a place in modern rock history as the writer and singer of some of its most legendary songs: "Bohemian Rhapsody," "Killer Queen," "We Are the Champions," and "Crazy Little Thing Called Love." Born in Zanzibar to Indian parents and later raised in India, Mercury and his "Queen" bandmates went on to sell albums in unit totals that rival the Beatles. His remarkable four octave singing range was a key ingredient in the band's success. Mercury famously died of AIDS in late 1991, less than 24 hours after a public admission he had contracted the disease."

PS: Hope I didn't spoil the ending. hahaha

I can't answer your question -- but, in my opinion, no doubt it's probably all the same footage we've seen before with a different narrator.  But it will be interesting to see how Biography Channel examines the one and only Freddie Mercury.

Apparently the Biography Channel wasn't allowed, or didn't seek permission, to use any of Queen's original recordings.  However, there are new interviews with Mick Rock, Peter Freestone, Jacky Smith, and a few others.  In addition, there are a few rare photos of Mary Austin which I hadn't seen before.

It was OK, but not entirely correct.  "Killer Queen" their first UK number one???  Also, I didn't check but didn't it hit number 11 in the US?  They said twelve.
Also, having no Queen music kind of sucked.  But, it's so they can sell the documentary without worrying about music rights.

I also thought that Freddie met Mary through Brian cause they dated...the bio said Freddie met her at a market.  There was also a couple of other things that I thought they had wrong.  I wasn't overly impressed with the biography.  But, I was happy to see that they did a biography on our lovely Freddie.
