So, has anyone got it?

What are people's favourite songs?

According to Wikipedia, Queen were mentioned as an influence in it's creation...can anyone spot anything specifically Queen-ish?

Its Green Day's new album.

And no I dont have it

*edit*

Actually I do have it now.

First opinion is it is not that bad. Not quite as good AI, but I reckon it could get there with a few plays.

7/10 for me.

I listened to it about a week ago from the MTV leak.

There are 2 quite possible reactions to this album. If you loved 'American Idiot', then there's no doubt that you will love the new album. Green Day keeps going further in their musical exploration and it looks like they are not looking back. That being said, if you're hooked on the days of 'Dookie' and wish Green Day would have kept that punk edge, then you will be disappointed. This album sounds even less punk than American Idiot, and although there's no doubt that they are taking another step away from their punk roots, the album still keeps some of that punk edge.

Personally, I think the album is very good. I don't know if I can say that it's better than 'American Idiot', but at least I can say that it's just about as good. I wish Green Day could have done something heavier (not necessarily punkish) because I think this band is doing the right thing by moving forward. I thought that the album was going to sound more alternative, given that Butch Vig is the producer, but somehow it reminded of a Beatles album without those psychadelic tracks.

I'll give the album an 8.5/10

Great review on the album!!! I LOVE it, personally. Though if you want my honest opinion... Nothing can compete with American Idiot.

This won't seem a surprise to anyone, but yeah, I'm seeing them live at the end of this year in London. :P They are just too awesome for me to miss out on! :)

I loved Green Day when they were a punk band.
Dookie was a brilliant album, then they got worse and worse by each album.
Then came American Idiot and i thought - finally another good album.
But this ....

I'm listening to the songs on youtube and I wasn't able to hear more then a minute of each song. It's incredibbly boring :( It's not even worth downloading

They really should end with Dookie, they would leave the scene as punk rock legends

if i was someone who hadnt heard any of their stuff before and this was the first thing i heard i would be asking myself what the fuss was all about..

its a bit like someone listening to A Kind Of Magic as their first Queen album after hearing all about Bohemian Rhapsody beforehand

Yeah, great review.
Also my first impression is that this new album sounds less punk than American Idiot.
But, the more I listen to it the more I get excited and enjoy it as a whole.
I think they have gone further in the terms of sounds creation.
Well, I can't say now which is better, this new one or the last one...

Even if it seems they have crossed over the borders of the punk music and others, the album still makes me feel "Green Day".

Thanks for the great review, Mr. Jingles. It was intelligent and helpful. I was never much into Green Day so I think I'm not giving this one a chance, but reading the review and the thoughts added by other users was a delight. I love when there's this kind of discussion about albums and so on.

Thanks, you all!

Well, the album sounds like Rock Opera as a whole showing variety at some points.
What I think are brilliant are the ones having various tempos even within each tune which makes them dramatic. Almost all the ballads impressed me with heavy sounds or beautiful introducions. The other punkish ones are also brilliant having simple and catchy melodies, some of which sound more pop.

Sorry.. if my poor English makes you misunderstand what it is like...

They're visiting Japan now, and played in a live TV music program yesterday evening.
I watched it at that time on TV, and really enjoyed it.
