Hello everyone !!

Here is something shared by our dear Jjeroen, who just asked me to upload that for him... so all thanks to him !
Two other Brian May recordings will come afterwards.

THE BRIAN MAY BAND
1993.06.21 Rotterdam, Ahoy Sportpaleis
Tenement Funster Records 001

Lineage : Sony memo recorder > memo tape master > normal cassette tape (1993 transfer) > wav (2001
transfer) > FLAC

Lineup :
Brian May - Guitars, vocals
Neil Murray - Bass
Jamie Moses - Guitars, vocals
Cozy Powell - Drums
Spike Edney - Keyboards, vocals
Shelly Preston - vocals
Kathy Porter - vocals

Comments : *For die-hards and completists only!*
The quality of this recording is only about B- and knows quite some 'audience participation'.
Nevertheless, it is the only known source for this great and enthusiastic show, so it was still a good
thing to pick up the only piece of equipement available at the time (a memo recorder) and take first
steps into taping. Considering the equipement, the recording still turned out enjoyable once the
listener get's into it. This recording circulated for many years on cassette only. The first transfer
to the digital format (also widely available) was not made by myself. It comes from -I think- a third
generation copy and knows hisses and clicks in the first few tracks of each disc. This definitive
version (TFR001) goes back to the transfer that was made in 1993 from the original masters. The best
possible quality, complete and click-free. Artwork with pictures from the actual show included.

Tracklisting :

CD1 :
01. The Dark - Back To The Light
02. Driven By You
03. Tie Your Mother Down
04. Love Token - Headlong
05. Love Of My Life
06. '39
07. Let Your Heart Rule Your Head
08. Too Much Love Will Kill You
09. Spike's solo
10. Since You've Been Gone

CD2 :
01. Now I'm Here
02. Brighton Rock
03. Resurrection - Cozy's solo - Bohemian Rhapsody - Resurrection reprise
04. Band introduction
05. Last Horizon
06. We Will Rock You
07. We Will Rock You (part 2) - audience waiting for encore
08. God (The Dream is over)
09. Hammer To Fall

Enjoy!!
Jeroen
DO NOT CONVERT TO LOSSY FORMATS! (Unless for personal home use only)
PLEASE DO NOT UPLOAD THIS ONE TO TRACKERS OTHER THEN THOSE THAT ARE FOR QUEEN-COLLECTORS EXCLUSIVELY!!
DO NOT EVER SELL OR MAKE MONEY OUT OF THIS RECORDING IN ANY WAY!

thanks a lot guys you rock!!!

I have a theorical question about the lineage: wasn't the voice recorder tape the master and the "normal" cassette a 1st gen?

Technically speaking... you're absolutely right! ;-)

Don't have the equipement anymore though to put that tape straight to WAV...

Thanks for the clarification

Finally all lessons learnt here about lineage etc bear fruit ;)

OK so I'll have to correct the title as "Best version available", as the "real" masters aren't shared anywhere.
Still, it is as close as the original source as it could be, and I don't know if Jeroen will find back the decent equipment to make new transfers from the master cassette.
That's nice to see that kind of recordings, made (almost exactly !) 16 years ago, and shared by the taper himself. One question, dear Jeroen, were you already taping in 1971 ? No ? Shit ! ;o) I would have been happy to know what Barry Mitchell sounded like...

Olivier,

Thanks a lot, Jjeroen and Olivier!

This is such a treat. It's very kind of you guys.

I'm at a loss here. Does anyone has a tip for me as to what Brian May concert I could start with? One that is good both sound and performance-wise.

I'd love if you gave your thoughts about it.

Anyway, I just wanna thank you, Jjeroen, and also Olivier for uploading. It's really nice and I'm very, very curious to listen to these shares because I'm completely ignorant of Brian May's gigs. I was about to download one of them some time ago but then another great frenzy began and started downloading some gigs from the Game Tour.

So, if anyone would be so kind as to give me a good tip on this, I'd be very happy.

THANKS!

[trying to hug both of you at the same time, stretching my arms]

:-)

Hi Yara

If you want to start with BM shows - do NOT start with this one! As mentioned in the tapersnotes, it is not so good quality.
I would recommand my Brussels 98 recording - by far the best of these three.

I feel your hug!! ;-)
Thanks!

x

LOL! ;-)

I'm afraid it will be a tough task to find that equipement back! It was already hard to find it back then, let alone now!

You may change the title again, to 'best possible version' ;-))

And no, unfortunately in 1970, I had a very hot girlfriend that did not allow me to do illegal stuff....

Thanks for the share and all other shares. I hope I can download some of it before 2010 :) As soon as I have some breathing space I will add something to the "frenzy" ;)
