I heard once that Sasha Cohen was going to play him.

I think that Micheal Sheen guy who did Clough and Tony Blair could be good. he seems able to capture a look and characteristics of the subjects he plays.

The biggest issue with a movie of Freddie is how do they do the singing aspect of it any justice? It would be wierd to have a film without any singing or music, but how to do it without it sounding utterly naff?

Maybe there's not a way, and so maybe that's the reason not to make the film!

Probably it could be about just one part of his life. E.G. childhood in many places, or 1986 onwards. Or just settle a specific plot. When they were in South America or in the States. So, the singing isssue could be done with Queen soundtracks...how´s that?

I honestly feel that a Freddie movie made in the Hollywood idiom will be a train wreck.  I've tried to enjoy the odd biopic but I'm sour on them.  I really don't see it happening.

And Freddie isn't a person with a very interesting personal life, so why would they make a film about it. People like Ian Curtis or Jim Morrisson have a much more insteresting story

... or Keith Moon.

Of course I'd love to see a proper movie about Moonie but I know it's going to be just like that piece of crap movie they made about Andy Kaufman.  They'll insist to the audience that he's a genius in his field, while hiring an actor that totally fails to portray what was so great about the person in the first place.

Honestly, I saw that Jim Carrey movie thinking 'Andy Kaufman must've been pretty bloody overrated...', but years later I saw some of the real thing and it was like - I was laughing at the guy and he wasn't even saying a word.  He had one of those faces; Jim Carrey doesn't (or at least, wasn't using it during that movie).  It just felt like a sappy piece of shit and I'd hate to see that kind of filmic treatment given to someone I have a genuine interest in (like Freddie or Keith).

It's been cancelled as the script offended Freddie mother.

They may look at it again at somepoint but that was the last I heard

I really enjoyed The Doors biopic.
Anyone have preferences to a director?

Mine would be:

- Terry Gilliam (a very visual director and English)
- Oliver Stone (just very good at bringing larger than life topics)
- Anton Corbijn (Dutch Photo/Film maker mostly about musicians)

or even Mick Rock as he would really know how to capture the essence of Freddie.

They shouldn't have showed her the unrated director's cut.  It was worse than a shower scene from Oz.

It will never happen because it wont make money because not enough people give a shit for it to make a profit. And thats all that matters. Plus, knowing the kind of people that post on here it could be a 400 hour 50 dvd blue ray box set starring Brad Pitt and it still wont be good enough because it wont include what Freddie liked for breakfast.

So what DID Freddie like for Breakfast?

On second thought, don't answer that.  Let's keep this a family oriented website.

Actually I'd be more annoyed by the Brad Pitt part than the breakfast part.   Honestly, he can't even play himself as an old man.  Ha.
