Queen Live at the Hammersmith Odeon
24. December 1975, Hammersmith Odeon, London, UK
2009 "pittrek edition"
This is my personal version of this fantastic concert and maybe the currently best version. The full concert was remastered for a DVD release, but since it wasn't released this Christmas, I've decided to release my own version. The video is compiled from various versions, a Japanese WoWoW broadcast, a Czech CT1 broadcast, the recent BBC1 broadcast, and 2 different tapes of the Old Grey Whistle Test TV broadcast (one with timecode on the bottom and one with the timecode at the top).
Every single frame has been taken from the best available broadcast, if there was a TV station logo, it was removed, for the missing segments both OGWT tapes were used to remove the timecode, and all the video was denoised if it was necessary. All the segments which were "fixed" for the rebroadcasts are now "unfixed" to their original look ( a good example is the start of Roger's drum solo in Now I'm Here - now it's black screen as it should be, during John's segment in Leroy Brown you can see again darkness instead of John, during Keep Yourself Alive you can see again the chaotic search for Freddie instead the repeating segment, and during the rock'n'roll medley there are the closing credits back where they belong). My goal was to re-create the original Old Grey Whistle Test broadcast, in other words I want to see exactly the same as the people who were watching it live. For the last 3 songs a brand new video track, since the video (maybe) doesn't exist for these songs.
The sound mix is done by myself using the original TV mix, and the 2 radio mixes. I know that a new "brilliantly remastered" soundtrack exists, I have heard it and I simply fucking hate it. It's terrible. Not to mention the overdubs ! I remember how I tried for hours to create a "3D effect" to Roger's drums during his parts, the new mix makes them sound boring. My favorite Brian's part ever (the beginning of BoRhap) is terribly silent, and didn't they have a bass player there ? Why can't I hear him ? No no no, I tried to ignore the mix and I used it only for parts of KYA and LOTG, because these parts sounded better than in my old mix, but the rest of the audio comes from my old "matrix".
This DVD has 2 playlists, you can see the whole concert (with re-created video track for last 3 songs) or only the TV broadcast, so everybody can chose which version to watch.

Technical stuff :
Video : PAL, 720x576 @ 25fps, 9 pass VBR 6MBps (originally done with 8 MBps but it was too big for a DVD5, so I re-encoded it with CCE,
the best mpeg2 encoder)
Audio : LPCM 2.0
A coupple of notes :
This is a DVD which I have done for MYSELF. It's not a professional product, it's done on a home PC. Therefore if you keep an eye on it, you will see when the video sources were changed. Also you can HERE when the audio sources changed, but as I said, I've done it for MYSELF and I am perfectly satisfied with it. Unfortunately there are a few segments which I don't like, but I didn't find any better sources for those parts, so until I find a source which has no timestamps on this part, I have to use it as it is.
NEVER rip this DVD to avi or something else, when it's an DVD, keep it an DVD !
NEVER sell this DVD !
NEVER claim authorship of this DVD (it really pissed me off when it happened the last time).
NEVER bootleg this ! A couple of "profesional" bootlegs look "surprisingly" similar to my online shares .
ALWAYS include this text file !
And a final note - if a miracle happens and this gets officially released, BUY THE OFFICIAL DVD ! We must show to Queen Productions that
we WANT MORE 70's concerts on DVDs !
Enjoy and merry Christmas !
PS Sorry for all the english misstakes, I'm in a hurry (and a slightly drunk :) )
PS 2 - a HUGE thanks to a british gentleman for providing me his treasure and I hope that he will not be angry that I've used a few seconds of it for this DVD :)
PS 3 - I'll seed whenever I have time, the requests for seeders will NOT change it
