The point of this thread is simple. We're all passionate fans of Queen, but how long will our passion last? I doubt our respect for Queen will ever diminish, but our obsession might. What do you think?

I think that if we give Queen a break when a break is needed, our passion and our obsession for Queen will never extinguish. Thats how I feel anyway. UE

I agree with Unblinking Eye. Yesterday afternoon, while in front of my monitor at work, exhausted, trying to finish so many tasks that fell behind because of the holidays, they played The Game on the radio. I sang along, and afterwards, was recharged. It gave me a whole new attitude and pleasant demeanor. If they would let me, I probably could've continued working through the evening. I love those unexpected Queen pick-me-ups.
and on, and on........till the end of time.

i would not go as far as to say, passionate. i like queen a lot,but there are times when i get sick of hearing them.(that will get me pelters). i would not say, play queen all day. sometimes it is nice to give things a break, listen to something from my youth(glam rock etc). my life would not end if i never heard queen again, sad maybe, but thats it..

I went through a lull right after Hot Space came out in 82. That lasted until The Works came out then it's been non-stop since then. I don't listen to them daily but I do listen to them several times a week.

Great responses so far. But how old are each of you? I'm 21, and have been a fan since I was 16 years old. I couldn't get enough of them until I was about 19 or 20. Since then, I haven't lost my respect or admiration -- but I have learned that I sometimes need time to get away and explore other artists. For example, I have dove into the creative works of Ben Folds, The Wallflowers (even met Jakob Dylan!), and Foo Fighters. Having done that, I go back to Queen with a completely different perspective. Sometimes I become more critical of their musical output -- and other times, most of the time in fact, I hold them even higher than before. When I turned 20 I got a tattoo of Queen's phoenix on my back. I guess I'll never forget about Queen.

Well I'm 13, and I've been a Queen fan since last I was 12, but I do listen to other music as well. I'm a great fan of Dream Theater, Steeleye Span, Yes, Cream etc. I agree with most of you, that we do need to often have a break from Queen and listen to other things so I do not get sick of it and want to stop listening to it forever. I was just at out local Sam Goody. It's closing down, and right now all the new DVDs are 60% off. They have a copy of Live In Japan, the bootleg concert from 1985. I do not have it on a DVD, just a VHS tape. It is there for $16.99, which would work out to $6.80. Instead, I went with Chicago II and a Peter Cetera solo CD for roughly the same price. Ten years ago, I would not have made the same decision.

I'm not passionate about them at all. I just like listening to their music sometimes. Same goes for any band actually.

So far I have lasted for five years. It's not that much, as I see here are some people who into it since the beginning, which is great. I can't guarantee that much, but another five for sure. I'm still quite passionate about my favourite songs (not just Queen actually) and love hunting on their stuff (LPs and solos most of all). Even so, I keep common sense. (Well, I hope so :D). But I don't listen to them every day (and never did) 'cos I find it boring. That's it.

My passion is mainly posting rude jokes about Freddy and how f*cking gay he was. That the music was quite good comes second.
