Right, had a go with "We Will Rock You"  nothing too outlandish,   Just mixed the Q version with the Q+JF version,   Freddie & John Farnham sing Duet on the first verse & the 3rd verse is repeated for the Rocked up end bit.

And I kept thinking that it only happened to me, oh well.
Waiting for an alternative.

Here's Rapidshare:-

Megaupload:-

Just to note the gain level was set a little too high.  But It was a sort  a quick  "Work in progress" mix that I did.   just thought I would try something that was simple & not too much over the top,  as I know a lot of you did not like the phase effect on my "I want it All" mix.

Also After listening to it again,  I think I should have done it different,   Instead of Freddie singing Verse 2 all by himself, maybe I should have done it like this:-

Freddie & J F  =  Duet  Verse  1
Freddie = 1st Half of  verse 2
JF = 2nd Half of  verse 2
Freddie = Verse 3
JF = Verse 3  (Reprise)

Might have another go, some time in the future ;-)

Gotta be honest...this one didn't do it for me either...it was a nice effort, and again, thank you for sharing this one. There seems to be a horrible echo in the first verse. I'm kinda glad that there wasn't more JF in the original version of WWRY, due to the fact that he's a great singer and all, but not for Queen stuff. The transition you were going for was a bit rough in the instrumental part, but I saw where you were going with it, and I was a fan of it. Not bad for a rough mix, but work with the transition a little more.

To be honest, I did it on the quick.  Thought I'd go for a "Back To Basics"  sort of thing,  rather than trying "Too Hard"  & overdoing it.    I do know what you & Daniel are saying & to that fact, that's why I love  "Daniel's" & "Fickle's"  mixes in the past. (not over done) , I also think that "Daniel & Fickle" are the 2 best fan mixers on this site.   Over the past, there have been some Right Hashes of mixes on here. I shudder when I think of some of them, but I do know, that everybody has to start somewhere & learn from their mistakes.  That's why I like your honest opinion about my mixes,   I'll take the comments onboard & hopefully do better next time.

Thanks,  :-)

Thank you for not taking my comments to heart, as they are not meant to be harsh in any way. I'll give you the credit in the fact that it's more than I can do, so at least give yourself the credit for that. Some times it takes a few to really find your feet on this kind of stuff. I'm sure Lord Fickle and Daniel vZ (I could be dead wrong about this too) had to take some time to find their feet in this too. So keep at it, and they aren't bad by any stretch. You can see that the creativity is flowing...go with it! :)

That's what I wanted anyway,  honest opinions of what people think.   If people like them, I know I'm on the right track & if they don't,  time to try something different with the mix.    Comments either way are constructive  :-)

Mmm... not sure what was going on in the first verse, but it didn't quite gel, did it?  In fact, the additional vocals in the 'old' part came over more like ad-hoc grunts.  Didn't really work at all, for me, sorry.  However, the transition into the heavier (JF?) version was nice, and the track really came alive then. I must hunt down the Q+JF version, as I don't believe I'd heard it before.

Thanks for uploading, and thank you also, for your kind comments.  We all had to start somewhere, and I began with just a four channel mixer, recording mixes onto a VCR!  I then progressed to a CD Recorder, still with the basic mixer, and that's where the first 'mix' I posted on here (AKOM) came from.  I say 'mix'. because all I did was to take the bit with the extra guitar from the extended version, and tack in onto the original, so as to make a 'full' (unedited guitar solo) version, without all that crappy stuff from the 12" mix.

I find Sony Soundforge easier to work with than Adobe Audition, as I seemed to be able to create more accurate edits and joins with it, but I always ended up using a mix of both, as AA had better delay effects than SS, and it would also remove some of the pops and clicks to mask dodgy edits!  Lol!

Anyway, keep them coming.  I've only listened to a few of your mixes, but they do show some promise.  Unfortunately, I don't really have the time to do them these days, and also, there was (is) a question of source material to work with, given the sad drying up of the DVD-A releases.  I was really looking forward to ADATR and QII on DVD-A, but they never materialised, and probably never will now.
