Does anybody know where I can find this concert of theirs?  It's live at Budokan, Tokyo, Japan, in 05/09/1985.  I really want to see the Impromptu performance with video.  I can't find it anywhere.  Thanks.

Hi,
ignore the comments on YouTube, this is NOT Rock In Rio blues, which comes from 19. January 1985 and was officially released as B-side to "A Winters Tale" in the UK and "Too Much Love Will Kill You" .

This is something else, and it can be from Budokan (I don't have with me right now so I can't compare).
If it's true, the best recording from this concert comes from the Wardour bootleg "At Last Budokan".

Here is the torrent : http://www.queenzone.com/forums/956503/addPoll.aspx?Q_FORUM_ID=4
mediafire links : http://www.queenzone.com/forums/1140234/the-best-of-the-best-1985.aspx?page=1

I'm not sure if these links come from the Wardour bootleg, but QueenConcerts.com claims so :-)

So neither of the two concerts in the link above have video to go along with them?..  I know for sure that what was in that YouTube link was from Budokan 1985, as it even says in the description which I checked out and it seems to be right.  I didn't listen to those that were telling me it's Rock in Rio - I know it's not.

Thanks anyway.  There doesn't seem to be too many official live Queen concert releases with video recordings...  I wonder why that is :(

That link is two different recordings of the same show.

As for video, there is a small snippet from TV from the night before in Tokyo, as well as a Japanese official VHS (and later laserdisc and pirate DVD) release of the show from two nights later.  Have a look at my website for details.

But as far as we know, there is no video from May 9.

The video recorded concert you speak of - you're talking about "We Are the Champions: Final Live in Japan" - that incorrectly labeled one?  :(

Well, you seem to know everything, especially judging by your site.  Based on your opinion, which concert do you think has the best/most amazing rendition of Impromptu with video?  As I mentioned, the main reason I was looking for this concert was for that.  Thanks :D

Yep, that's the one.

Knebworth '86, hands down.

Oh - you're talking about the last concert they did together?  Is it the one called "Electric Magic"?  I can't seem to find that anywhere either >.<  Well, with video anyway...  Might you know where to find it? :D

Thanks, I really appreciate it.

Indeed, it's the Electric Magic show.  But in 2007 a much better bootleg came out, called "Thank You All."  It had upgraded copies of the audio and the video.

Always check queenconcerts.com, as he's got the download links up there:

http://www.queenconcerts.com/86-08-09

So you can grab the entire bootleg as such.  Have fun!

Hmmm, well maybe the word "bootleg" is throwing me off but I don't see how some bootleg version could have better sound, and especially video, than the original..  Audio could possibly be better I guess...  If I had the chance, I'd download both anyway, lol.  Either way though, the only download link given for the full concert with video was a torrent which is currently and will likely remain dead.  Is there possibly another download location/some other means of obtaining it, or more preferably I feel, maybe the actual release?  Thanks again :)

It's simply because lower generation tapes were used for the audio and video for Thank You All.  Electric Magic was a bootleg too from many years back, and it was a much worse copy of the audience tape.

There are torrents for both the audio and video.  The video actually uses the better audio source as well, so it'd be a good idea to grab both.  If you ask in the thread for a seed, someone will probably jump on.

Otherwise, I'm not sure if it's anywhere else online.  Try google maybe?

Man.. why were there so few official Queen concert recordings?  Sorry for all the questions but I'm loving the information you're giving me :D

How could they have not recorded their very last concert?  That sounds crazy to me.  But uh.. a few more questions...  XD

1) If not too much trouble, since there doesn't seem to be too many, how many and what are the official recording releases of Queen concerts?  I think I might have most, if not all of them but I'd like to be sure cause I honestly don't have a clue.

2) Is the concert in Montreal '81 the only one remastered in HD?  It also has the best audio mastering in DTS.  I would love if more were like that.  It's simply stunning.

3) Are there any Queen concert video recordings in New York?  If more than one, I'd like to download just the best one.

I wish I could help you out somehow in return.  Thanks for all the help though, really.  I love Queen!

They claim it's for quality reasons, as their standards are incredibly high.

Sorry for all the questions but I'm loving the information you're giving me :D

Not to worry.  I'm happy to help out.

How could they have not recorded their very last concert?  That sounds crazy to me.

They have the complete audio and some bits of video.  According to Brian they didn't record the video that was shown on the big screen at the show.

I've got the list on my website in the collecting/videos section.  But here it is:

Rainbow 74 VHS, Montreal 81 VHS/DVD, Milton Keynes 82 (including Vienna/Tokyo 82 in the extras), Tokyo 82 longer VHS/laserdisc (Japan only release), Montreux 84/86 (Greatest Hits 2 DVD), Rio 85 VHS/laserdisc, Tokyo 85 VHS/laserdisc (Japan only), Live Aid DVD (also on Queen Rock Montreal disc 2), Wembley 86 VHS/DVD (latter includes bits of first night), Budapest VHS/laserdisc.

2) Is the concert in Montreal '81 the only one remastered in HD?

Yeah, because only a very few shows were actually properly shot on film.  The only others are Budapest and the Rainbow in Nov '74.

3) Are there any Queen concert video recordings in New York?  If more than one, I'd like to download just the best one.

There are a couple short 8mm videos from the 70s, and one of them is even on Youtube, from 1975.  The other one is from 1978 and it's really bad quality.

I wish I could help you out somehow in return.

You can help out by going to places like Dime and The Traders' Den and trying to contact people whom you think might have tapes of Queen that we've never heard.  You never know when you might get lucky.
