I am trying trace New Zealand related Queen memorabilia to be used as props for a feature film currently in production.

Props mistress Rosie Guthrie writes:

I am working on a NZ Written, Directed and Produced Romantic Comedy.
Our main character is a guy who has inherited his fathers passion for
and collection of Queen Memorabilia and music.
We have a couple of very specific scripted props and outside of that
we need to build a sense of a collection as well.
The specific pieces we need are
( And these can be drum scanned off the originals so we don't have the
originals on set)
Queen NZ tour Ticket, Poster and any associated material.
Beyond that we would love to talk about what you may be willing to
hire to us, or similarly that we could scan etc.

I've already sent Rosie a scan of my Auckland concert ticket but there still remains the poster. I know that somewhere out there is an Auckland concert poster signed by the entire band. Unfortunately, in the 10 years or so since we last had a Queen convention in NZ I've lost touch with the collectors I know who can help me here. This is a legit, professional production and utmost care will be taken of anything loaned out. As an actor who has worked in local film and TV I recognise the names involved here.

Hey there, the idea sounds interesting, could be fun.
I moved over to NZ from the UK a little over a year ago, I've been collecting Queen memorabilia since 1991, although I have slowed the pace in recent years.
It would be great to catch up some time, I'm based near Hamilton.

Why on Earth do you need authentic Queen memorabilia for this production?  A signed tour poster?

If this is one of the items in the pre-production schedule for this "film", I'd say you're off to a bad start right away.  You're still going to have to pay QPL for any use of Queen material.  Obviously you'd have to negotiate that right away.  This has not happened.  If it had, perhaps they would have provided some of that material required.  Asking for someone's signed tour poster for a film sounds like BS.

Who is financing this "film" anyway?  Do you have any financial backing or is this some indie filmed on an 8mm camera?

2 things the world does not need.

1).  Romantic comedies.
2).  Romantic comedies from New Zealand.

If you haven't already, pull the plug on this project.

I could be wrong, but they don't need the band's permission unless they are using music or video of the band.  Having a poster in the room or showing a concert ticket won't break any copyrights.

Nothing wrong with asking for authentic items, if they just badly faked it all the Queen Kiwi Rom-Com fans  would be all like "ohhhh... that's SOOO fake!!!"  (insert high pitched squeeley voice)

I think its a great idea, not enough films out there that incorporate Queen into the story line. I'm from NZ too, and I hope it all works out for the production company!

Will there ever be aother Queen convention here? I was too young to go last time.
