Brian is set to appear on two tracks on the new Meat Loaf album ‘Hang Cool Teddy Bear’ which is to be released through Roadrunner and Loud & Proud Records on May 11th (UK likely to be May 10th).

I've always liked Meat Loaf, but I can see why his music wouldn't appeal to some. This will be a Jim-Steinman-less album, too, which doesn't mean it'll bad, but it may not have that familiar sense of tongue-in-cheek humour. He's had some great songs which weren't penned by Jim ("I'd Lie For You [And That's The Truth]" and "Modern Girl" to name a few). I'll probably give the new album a shot.

It would be interesting if they did a whole album together, with Brian penning some songs and doing vocals, in addition to playing guitar.

I may buy this album on the title alone.  Last time I did that it was The Killers' Hot Fuss.  Worked out well.

I'll always own Bat Out of Hell.  I had it on cassette and eventualy on CD, which I lost, and then replaced again.  I've bought that album 3 times.

It's amazing: two excellent songs with Brian playing great guitar, and hardly anyone wants to talk about it. Too busy lurking in the 'Announce' forum for someone to upload some free stuff? Sometimes I wonder...

Okay listen up, especially you Canada.  You probably know this already, but AMAZON WILL LIE.  They will lie.  Fortunatey they only lie about how awesome they actually are.  Never take the expensive delivery option because they only know how to move at one speed  anyway: really fast.   My new CDs arrived on the 13th and I've given all three at least a light listen and have spun the Meatloaf one twice in it's entirety.  Really happy with the CD overall and will perhaps put together a mini review this weekend.

Yeah...not sure.  He's supposed to be on 'Song of Madness' as well, but as you note he's not credited, though Steve Vai is.  There's definitely little pieces in the guitar layers that sound like him to me, but there are many, many  people better than I to make that call.

There's a lot of music on this CD.  Just over an hour over 12 tracks, and there is no mistaking that you're listening to Meat Loaf.  Typical vocals, typical driving guitar.  Good stuff. A few thoughts:

1. Peace on Earth
Great  opener with both tempo changes and a vocal footprint typical of Mr. Loaf. There are several tracks on this CD that have almost a gospel/revivalist feel in parts.  This is the first.�

2. Living on the Outside
A freedom/on the road rocker that has some of the great forward propulsion of others in the genre like Born to Run or Running on Empty, with heavier guitar.

3. Los Angeloser
This is the first single.  Has a rock/country/gospel jam feel.  Should do well on the title alone (Los Ange-loser)

4. If I Can't Have You
Mid tempo duet with Kara Dioguardi (who co-wrote it with others) of American Idol.  Pretty ordinary and never really rises above really bad lyrics.

5. Love is Not Real
The credited Brian track.  One of the best on the CD.  It's been posted here, so no need to say much more. Great track.

6. Like a Rose
As in 'The Bitch is Like a Rose'.  Hmmm.  Features Jack Black on vocals.  Short, tight, aggressive guitar rock.

Did You Ever Love Somebody
7. Closest thing there is to a ballad on the CD, which needed a slow down at this point.  It's OK but not great.

8.  Song of Madness
The second Steve Vai assisted track.  A big, epic, typical Meat Loaf song. There are kings and queens and lambs and descending minor chords.

9. Running Away from Me
Sounds like it could have been from a broadway show or rock opera. Not my favourite vibe.

10.  Let's Be in Love
Thematically interesting, but somewhat less so musically.  Slower tempo, angst. Features Patti Russo.

11. If it Rains
Shorter, mid tempo hook driven track.  Half sounds like a single, and half sounds like filler. Clearly I might not be too good at this.

12. Elvis in Vegas
Co-written by Jon Bon Jovi with others, and it shows.  Has that Springsteen light feel that JBJ has at times.  Meat Loaf proves he can still rock a coming of age tune at 60 something.  Good on him.

Overall, very happy I own this.

Then you know the kind of candy floss she usually spins up.  This is kind of that, unfortunately. Patti Russo is on the album as well, so he had options.  Patti duets in 'Let's Be in Love'.  I'm going add that to my original post...forgot.
